Silence fell over the court as everyone waited for her response. Vaerion, smug as ever, eyed her curiously – even he wasn't sure what trial she would take.
Asuriel could feel them watching. Their judgmental and expectant gazes bore into her soul, burning holes through it.
Their stares were… studying, calculating.
Time seemed to slow as Asuriel deliberated her options. As she looked into herself, she found that she felt divided as to which path to take.
Her infernal blood, which was running hot due to the Depths' influence, wanted the Trial of Dominion. Overpowering someone or something would be satisfying and simple. She was confident she could do it.
Her celestial side, however, knew she could withstand the Maw of Ruin. It was an option that didn't involve any other creature, and although painful, it would be a simple task.
But neither of those options were truly hers.
