Chapter 50
"Aghhh! The pain... It's unbearable!" Grey groaned as his eyes fluttered open, and he found himself wrapped in a blanket, lying in the familiar confines of his small home.
"Oh! I'm back home," he muttered, glancing around the living room. A sweet aroma of food drifted in from the kitchen, filling the air with warmth and comfort.
"Jesse! Go check if Grey is awake!" Clara's voice called out from the kitchen. The name sent a jolt of anger through Grey's body, and he clenched his teeth, already feeling his blood boil as the small girl approached him.
"You're awake!" Jesse said in her soft, innocent voice. At eight years old, Jesse had short black hair and dark eyes that looked almost too big for her face.
"How are you feeling?" she asked, tentatively reaching out to touch Grey's arm. But before she could make contact, Grey shot her a vicious glare that made her freeze in place.
"What are you doing here?!" he shouted, his anger flaring up like wildfire.
