Chapter 7 - Tear drop

Gasp, I woke up opening my eyes immediately. It felt as though I fell into my body.

My mum's face looked down into mine, she looked angry. My head was on her lap and her hand on my bare chest and I could feel her energy in my body.

I tried to sit myself up but she hit me on the head with her other hand, and so I lay my head back on her lap silently.

I turned my head to look around, Dahlia treated dad's wounds, she had bandages and some balms sprawled around her, I must not have been out Iong.

Dad's eyes looked lost, mum must have been really pissed at him, especially since she refused to heal him.

Theo was nowhere to be seen. But one of his creatures remained on standby.

It was a different one than the one earlier. I turned my head to stare back at my mum.

She had short black hair that was braided and packed neatly, I could have sworn It was a popular hairstyle but I didn't know what it was.

She was a small woman and kind of plump, the kind of plump that displayed a healthy life.

Everyone in our family was fair skinned, and our eyes were so dark brown it looked black, well with the exception of Dahlia, her's was a striking blue.

Dahlia was the special child, everyone's favourite. As far as I was concerned that was due to her ability.

She touched on everyone's emotions like it was a natural thing, but to me it was plain wrong, an invasion of peoples feelings.

But everyone else was fine with it, they must be all under her mind control spell or something.

I felt fully healed but my mum didn't get up yet, she stayed for a while longer, then when she felt like it she just got up and left.

My head hit the concrete a little and I winced in pain. Mum was definitely pissed at me too.

I stayed lying on the ground for a while longer, I lost ...again, I had never won. Not once in all my years of battling and training.

Memories of the fight flashed through my mind. That move I did at the end.... it was the riskiest thing I ever did.

I knew I would never win without a supernatural advantage, but it's effect was beyond my expectations.

But I would never do that if I fought a regular human.

A tear dropped from my eye "What am I" I muttered to the air.

"You did good" my dad said, hovering above me.

He looked perfectly alright, except from the many bandages, he wasn't even limping.

I took his hand and stood, "Vicas... about that.....", shaking my head, I cut him off before he could continue."I'm sorry", "I never would have done that to a regular human....", "it's just that I had to win and I..... I never knew....".

"It's cool vicas I was just making sure you were in control." he stopped staring at me. "Definitely" I said nodding.

No one ever talked about the accident and that made it feel even worse sometimes.

No one except maybe Dahlia, but talking to her creeped me out. I glanced in her direction

She stood behind dad, she was tall and slim, about dad's height, her long red hair waving in the air, now that I thought of it, are nurses allowed to have long hair ?. Wouldn't that be a health hazard or something like that.

She noticed my stare and winked in my direction, I looked away immediately.

Theo arrived through the door on the far end of the room.

Three creatures of varying height trailed behind him, they moved like normal humans, some carrying long brushes and buckets filled with water.

Now that I looked at it the concrete was dirty, blood splatters were in a few places on the white concrete, the creatures always took care of basic house upkeep.

They swept, cleaned, mopped, dusted, any manual labour was done by them.

My dad looked like he had much more to say to me, but he kept it to himself as he turned around and left.

My sister though.... she pulled my hand leading me out of the backyard. Her back was to me as she started speaking.

"That fight was the craziest fight I've seen in the past few years, I could have sworn you would win, Though Theo on the other hand said you stood no chance but I believed in you, and that attack at the end, That, was amazing!!, you must have traumatised dad with that move, he looked so shook even after he won." She spoke so much so quickly, sometimes it feels like she has absolutely no idea of how to gauge the feelings of others.

I started to speak "Thank..." but she cut me off immediately with her words, seemingly lost in conversing with practically herself "You could imagine Theo's face when you pulled out that move from outta nowhere. He looked like he'd seen a ghost." She burst into laughter when she noticed Theo staring at us.

Her laughter was loud but sounded pleasant, like how you would imagine a siren song to be.

He glared at us and looked away, focusing on observing his creatures. One of them must have been newly "born" as he liked to call it.

"Oh did you say something" She said finally turning to face me. Her eyes were like spotlights, she was a whole crowd on her own.

"Thanks" I repeated, we had entered the house back, she left my hand to get a seat ready for me.

"I was just stating the truth, though what you did..." She looked me in the eyes seriously. I knew where this conversation was going.

"It would have been alright , I was desperate I.... " She didn't let me continue, "You don't know that!!" She said, slamming her hands on the table.

It seems like everyone was pissed, "That could have ended very wrongly and you know it".

"I'm sorry" I said lowering my head.

"It's not a problem, dad's not angry and mum's not angry about that either. My job was just to make sure you're aware." I nodded slowly.

"Open your mouth" She said, "Huh" that was a weird request, "Your teeth, I want to see your teeth.". "What's that for?" I replied leaning back.

"Your tooth, it got knocked out" She replied, showing me a bloody tooth in her hand. Had she been holding it this whole time. That's creepy but it won't be the first time she's done that.

I rubbed my tongue on all my teeth, no holes, opening my mouth she confirmed it for me

She left soon after, she talked for a while before leaving, something about some random patient in the hospital that she talked to for a while, something about teeth and bones.

I didn't hear a thing about it, I went to my room, My phone rested on the table with the red plant.

How I didn't notice it before was surprising, I picked it up.

One new message on ChatApp. I opened the app, There was no other chat apart from a family chat and Alexandra's.

I didn't need anything else, I opened the chat named Alex.

"Get some rest early today."

I looked at the time 9:30pm, the message was sent hy 4: 23pm, a whole 5 hours difference.

I smiled lightly, dropping the phone. I did a couple of stretches, then took a long bath before getting into bed.

Opposite my bed on the dark blue wall lay a clock, people rarely had stuff like that in their rooms anymore.

Or so I heard, the room was dark but the clock hands glowed in the dark, it was enough light for me to tell the time.

10: 39, I guess this is early, my mind wandered to the accident and a tear drop streaked down my eye, I rubbed it off, closing my eyes and letting the clock tick lure me to sleep.
