The archer had sighed once more before he began complaining in a croaking voice.
"You know, back when I was just a little boy, a student at the adventurer academy, an academy were adventurers are taught, I was forced to study every facet about this, every single f#cking facet, I mean I know how many known actives there are. 4869 by the way.. Well, at least it's kind of helpful now."
But very soon, after a short tirade about this very topic, about how the teacher had told him that he would have to know that even if he was awoken at midnight while covered under a mountain of blankets, he began talking in a calmer tone once more, now with just a slight gurgling undertone that had started anew just a few minutes ago, in the middle of his senseless tirade that had truly just been annoying to Cades.
"Listen up cause the rest of the actives are much more intricate to explain. The sixth type, and the first of the higher class types, consists of temporal or instant enhancements, these work by causing a special kind of energy to appear within ones own body for a set amount of time and, for example, healing it or propelling it forward within an instant, this is also why the fifth and sixth type are often referred to as the healing duo. The seventh type is probably my favourite, it consists of just a few dozen actives but is the most popular apart from the tenth type, it consists of elemental freedom, of the act of bending elements to ones own will, basically just telekinesis with elements. After that there's the eight type, also known as the unique type, this type is really just miscellaneous, such as for example a spell that lets you improve your looks or a spell that lets you manipulate your own weight, or even a buff that allows you to look into the future during a battle. The ninth type consists of commands, there are only three known actives of this type as they are incredibly rare, these actives are 'fear', "kill' and 'regrow', they cause one to feel fear, die and regrow or heal respectively. Lastly, the tenth type, is more so theoretical, it consists of conceptual rules, such as a domain in which you can do practically everything, but that only ever appeared in a singular legend, and most don't believe it to be true."
After the archer was done he started breathing and looking at Cades, seemingly desperate to drink something, a desire that, though very understandable, would not be fulfilled, at least not by Cades.
It was clear that the archer desired to remain silent for a bit, but Cades didn't really care, Cades had always lusted for wisdom, he had always disregarded his own or others safety when he knew he could find out something new, just like when he had experimented on himself and thought about amputating his own thump, only stopping when his mom caught him and later on bought him his first artificer kit, a undoubtably better alternative.
Oh.. just what had he done to deserve such a great mother..
But that happy thought soon vanished as his eyes focused on the archer once more and he began uttering a new question, interested about something else, something that was part of what was explained and yet not at all.
"Are there different types of constances ?"
The archer, already having figured out that Cades would not let him rest before all of his questions were answered nodded slowly and began his explanation, that sounded as if he had truly studied it over and over again like he said, with an sigh.
"There are four types of constances, the first is physical, in this case a constant changes something about your physical body, in my case my looks whenever I meet a new person, actually, my type also has a bit of the second type mixed in which is related to illusions. You see the second type is widely considered to be non-physical enhancement, such as intelligence, charm, confidence, you get it. After that there's the third type, a pretty rare type that is related to actives themselves, it enhances specific elements or types for example, but can do a whole lot of other things as well, such as, for example, lower the cost of using an active. And, lastly, there's the fourth type, the conditionals. I only really know of one example for this type, a hero of ancient time, one that was called the blue phoenix, his constant allowed him to live as long as he had magical energy, even if his head was cut off, even if his body was turned into mush, that's how he became a legend. I'd say that the fourth type can however also be a curse seeing as the hero of the legend claimed to not be in control of whether he would return or not, meaning that he would also have to die dozens of times over, maybe more, if he were to die of old age. Sadly he was never heard of again after abruptly vanishing one day."
The archer remained silent for a bit before he leaned his back into empty air, sitting on the altar he was after all without any kind of alleviation for his back which had been punched just a few hours before, by none other than Cades.
At least it had only been a few hours to Manug, to Cades it had been a bit longer, seeing as he had also sat in front of the archers unconscious body for a few hours on top of the time they had spent talking and walking through the endless abyss to get to the next island.
And soon after that Cades voice soon resounded once more, now with a interest in something else.
"Do you know anything about these paintings ?"
And the archer, his backs till stretched out, arching atop the cold, stone altar slowly sat himself down straight once more and began do nod, seemingly interested in this topic as well but unwilling to start speaking because he had spoken so much already.
He did however speak when Cades, who still looked as if he ate children, looked at him with a questioning look that more so resembled a look of deep contempt and bloodlust.
