Chapter 33 - Frozen kingdom(2)

He awoke in a sea of blood, thousands of litres turned the ground where he was standing into an entire river, the white avalanche now no more, replaced by a river of dark blood and bodies burning in violet light, the only source of light that decorated this cavern for the last few decades in all probability.

The violet light combined with the dark, endless stream originating from the mountain of corpses on which the disorientated Cades had stood and instead created a light magenta mountain with a small burgundy lake at its feet.

Cades slain foes had almost allowed him to reach the ancient ceiling of the mountain, he had just been a few dozen feet to low but that was just a sign to how many foes there had been.

The ceiling of the cavern was almost six hundred feet high and he was almost there.

These foes, they weren't just a few hundred, they weren't even just a few thousand, they had to at the very least be over ten thousand foes.

As Cades slowly began his descent from the gruesome mountain he realized one thing.

He had absolutely no idea what had happened.

He had completely lost himself to the battle, he had lost himself in the gruesome dance of his blade in the horrid screeches that every single one of his spells caused as they burned the flesh off of the disgusting creatures, as the made them scream in terror while being crushed under an unimaginable weight or as they simply had their lower body separated from their upper bodies.

He had been lost in the ecstasy of slaying his foes, of getting his own version of revenge, he didn't care at all about what was going on with them, he had just been lost in the moment, he had killed them all, an entire.... civilization.

And yet Cades smiled.

From a great mountain of countless corpses there descended a being reminiscent of a fallen angel, a being covered and dripping of the blood slain from countless enemies, its whole body lost in the dark red with only its eyes burning in a violet, burning light, with its wings not moving and simply being dragged through the gruesome mountain, cascading the faces of the fallen, mauled corpses and that monster that would've struck fear into anyone that saw him grinning without even realizing it.

The "monster" had a wide grin on, showing its slightly yellowish teeth and the entire inside of its maw as it continued breathing heavily with its eyes focused on only the entrance to the next battle, ever affirmed in its intentions as it had always been.

Cades walked towards the next room, the only room left in the entire icy, dark and now bloodied cavern system, looking forward to a battle against a higher lord rank beast, looking forward to once again killing an enemy.

He had long since realized that he was going insane, but that was all there is to it, he still wished to kill and slaughter all of his opponents and one day, in the far future, he might be safe and able to pursue a calm and serene mind as he had only really experienced when killing enemies and after being healed on that horrible night on top of the ancient tree on trumal.

Each of Cades steps halled through the huge dome-like room in the middle of which there was a disgusting creature without wings, surrounded by what seemed to be even more of the white harpies that he had just annihilated like insects.

Cades grin widened even more as he walked towards the curled up mountain of flesh adorned with countless grey feathers and pulled out his sword that had once been of a beautiful, solid white and was now in the form of a red, cracked mess with countless cracks pulling themselves through the blade created from the demon of the skies.

He struck the creature that was still somehow sleeping after all the screams and all the chaos that had resounded throughout the entire cavern system with as much power as he could muster, causing the entire cavern to shake and gigantic boulders to fall down from the shaking ceiling burned by the intense heat coming from the explosion caused by Cades.

The humongous creature began moving quickly, shocked by the unbelievable impact, trying to stand up to its whole size and fight back but Cades continuously attacked the monster with as much power as he had previously used, all while laughing out loud.

His insane laughter halled through the entire system, powerful enough to make the harpies that had previously been hunting him run away with fear in their eyes but Cades didn't care, he attacked the shrivelling, squirming monster over and over again.

He had laughter on his heart, he was constantly thinking about everything that happened, he struck again and again and again and again as the gigantic beast now more so resembled a bloodied sack than a cuddled in bird larva as it had previously looked like.

Each of Cades strike caused the entire cavern to explode in deafening booms, breaking the sound barrier with each attack and his fury causing his condensated mana to constantly explode.

He only stopped after the once proud harpy king had turned into a bloody pulp filled with broken bone splinters that was somehow still pulsating.

While he had been doing that the other harpies had already escaped the nest.

There were about a hundred of the practically invincible harpies and all of them had escaped and were probably going to wreak inconceivable havoc across the whole continent before a brave hero would finally put a stop to it.

But Cades didn't think, he struck the pulp over and over again not caring about anything with his mind absent, not capable of thinking at all.

He only stopped when the bloody pulp had turned into a fleshy blood smoothie and finally turned into a kid of goo resembling a cake batter.

Cades slowly stood up and began walking outside the ancient cavern, not thinking about anything, his blade already long since shattered into pieces as he was still holding it in his right hands.

But quickly turned around, realizing something.
