"What you're saying is blasphemous!...I was born of human parents I-" Isolde stuttered struggling to form a coherent thought.
"But you don't know your parents, do you? Oh, and you think that grandmother of yours is actually your blood relative?"
Isolde's mind reeled at Malphus's voice, her world shifting beneath her feet she felt as though she had taken a brutal blow to the stomach. The ancient oak seemed to sway in the still air, its gnarled branches reaching out as if to grasp at her. She shook her head, backing away until the rough bark pressed against her back.
"No-no, that can't be true. I-I've lived with Grandmother my whole life. She's the only family I've ever known." Her eyes burned with despair as she glared at the entity before her.
