Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

Anna came home in her limo, sad, before sundown. Once she got home, she told her family the bad news. Anna said, "Still no sign of Randy." Destiny comforted Anna and said, "Hey, we'll find him. Heck, he's probably trying to find us as we speak." Anna said, "Where's Mrs. Young?" Oliver pointed to the next room and said, "Over there." Anna went to see Mrs. Young, and when Anna found her, she told Mrs. Young what was happening that night. Anna said, "Mrs. Young. As usual, we will rescue people tonight, but there's still no sign of Randy. If we return tonight without him, I want you to call the police and tell them to look for his human form." Mrs. Young said, "Yes, mam." After talking to Mrs. Young, Randy's family went to bed to be well-rested for tonight.

While his family was resting and their housekeeper was cleaning, Randy, Eliza, and Ace rode in a truck to get to Randy's house faster. Once they reached a stoplight, the driver drove to the left and headed in the wrong direction. Randy said, "Oh no, we're heading in the wrong direction." Ace said, "Then we got to get off." Eliza said, "One problem with that." Randy and Ace looked at where they were headed and saw they were headed onto the freeway and out of Howlsburg. Randy said, "Anybody got any ideas?" Eliza spotted a field of grass and said, "One. Jump." Eliza jumped out of the truck and landed in the field. Randy and Ace looked at where Eliza landed, and while Ace thought it was okay, Randy thought they were crazy. Ace jumped next and landed in the same field as Eliza, only further down. Eliza and Ace ran after Randy, hoping to catch up to him. Eliza said, "Randy, jump, it'll be ok." Randy was scared and couldn't believe he would do it, but he jumped off the truck and into the field. Once he landed, he dropped the moonstone ring, got hurt when he hit the field and became unconscious. Eliza and Ace found Randy and were thinking about what to do to help him, because Eliza wasn't strong enough to carry him. While they were thinking, Eliza found the moonstone ring and saw it wasn't glowing anymore. She kept it for Randy until he woke up. Once Eliza got back to Randy, the moonstone glowed again. Eliza brought out the ring and said, "That's odd. It wasn't glowing when I found it." Ace said, "We'll figure it out later. Right now, we have to get Randy some help. And I know how." Ace jumped onto Eliza's back, turned around, and started wagging his tail for people to see. Ace said, "Howl." Eliza said, "Why?" Ace said, "Just do it." Eliza started howling while Ace wagged his tail.

Once someone in a car spotted them, they pulled off the road. Then, a man and woman named "Emily" and "Freddie" got out of their vehicle, and Eliza took them to Randy with Ace on her back. Once they saw Randy was wounded and unconscious, they decided to help them. Emily and Freddie picked Randy up and walked him to their car. Once they passed Eliza and Ace, the moonstone ring glowed. Then, it dimmed when Randy got in their car. Before they shut the door, Eliza and Ace jumped in, too. Then, the moonstone glowed again when they got near Randy. Emily said, "Oh, no. You two can't come along." Eliza growled at Emily because she refused to leave Randy alone. Freddie said, "They must be good friends if they want to tag along. Come on." Emily said, "Fine." Then Emily closed the door and drove them to the vet.

Once they got to the vet's office in Howlsburg the next day, the vet performed a DNA test on Randy to determine his condition. Once the results came in, the vet saw his back paw was bruised from his fall, but it wasn't broken. He also hit his head and knocked himself out, so he'll be out for a few hours, but he will wake up. And the final part confused them. Dr. Francis said, "That's weird. According to this, he's only 1/3 of a dog. He's also 1/3 boy and 1/3 wolf." Emily said, "So, you're saying we saved a wolf, not a dog." Dr. Francis said, "Could be either, but we're unsure. We'll have to keep him here until he wakes up. We'll give him some medicine to heel his bruise, but we'll wrap it up while he's asleep."

After talking to the vet, Emily and Freddie looked down and saw Eliza and Ace giving them the sad puppy dog eyes. Emily petted Eliza and said, "Your friend will be alright. The doctor said he'll be asleep for a few hours, and they'll heel his bruised paw." The vet then wrapped up Randy's back paw and put it in a cast. He then looked at his watch and saw it had a W insignia. The vet took a magnifying glass, took a closer look at the insignia, and thought it looked familiar, but he couldn't place it. Dr. Francis said, "This must be like his collar. Only it's around his wrist and not the neck."

Meanwhile, Hunter was looking into the same thing. When he found Randy's Uncle Max's car, Hunter got out of his car and saw Max on the phone with someone. Hunter reached into the window, and when Max spotted him, he rolled up the window to prevent Hunter from coming in. Hunter said, "Listen, Mr. Wolf, an Alaskan Malamute stole my ring." Max said, "What's that got to do with me?" Hunter kept reaching in and said, "I intend to find out." Max kept avoiding Hunter while listening to him. Hunter said, "It had your initial on its watch." The police then grabbed Hunter and threw him to the ground while Max continued his phone call. Hunter quickly reached into Max's limo and plucked one of his hair. Hunter said, "Thank you." The police then escorted Hunter away while Max rolled up the window. Max said, "A dog stole his ring? What an idiot."

Meanwhile, Randy was still unconscious at the vet. Emily came to check on him and saw him still asleep. Emily said, "He's handsome when you get past the wolf part." Emily started to sing to Randy while he petted his face. While she did so, Eliza's mouth dropped when she saw Emily singing to Randy because she couldn't believe it. Freddie then shut her mouth and watched Emily sing to Randy while all three of them watched Emily sing to Randy. Randy started to wake up in the vet's office. Once he did, the sun entered the room, and he saw Emily singing to him. When Emily saw the doctor coming, she quickly vamoosed before Randy saw who she was. Then Randy woke up and saw the vet. Dr. Francis said, "Well, he's finally awake." Dr. Francis then gave Randy some medicine to make his bruised paw feel better. Once Emily and Freddie saw Randy wake up, they brought him into the waiting room where Ace and Eliza were waiting for him.

Randy walked up to Ace and Eliza and asked them what happened. Once Randy got near Ace and Eliza, the moonstone ring started to glow, and Eliza wondered why while she told Randy what had happened. Eliza said, "You took my advice and jumped out of the car we were riding in, but your fall was more problematic than ours. You hurt yourself and became unconscious. We signaled for help, and the humans who brought you into this room brought you here to the vet's office, where they wrapped up your leg because you bruised it. You also knocked yourself unconscious and have been out for twelve hours." Randy shockingly said, "Twelve hours." Emily and Freddie then took Randy, Eliza, and Ace back to their car, hoping to turn them into their pets. Emily said, "Maybe we could bring these three home." Freddie said, "We could bring the puppy and Golden Retriever, but we can't bring the Alaskan Malamute; according to his silver watch, he already has an owner." Emily said, "Then we'll have to take him back." Randy began to think about what Freddie said. Randy said, "Silver watch?" Randy looked at his watch and wondered if his watch was why he hadn't been able to change back into a human.

Freddie tried biting off his watch, but Emily stopped him. Emily said, "Now, boy. If you take that off, we'll never be able to find your owner." Emily and Freddie then put Randy, Eliza, and Ace in cages, and Randy, Eliza, and Ace started to panic. Eliza shouted, "Let us out!" Randy shouted, "Help!" Since Emily and Freddie didn't speak dog or werewolf, all they heard were the dogs barking. Then Emily and Freddie put them in their car and headed to Randy's house since they knew what the W on his watch meant.
