"Mrs. Scott," the subordinate of Kingsly Scott called as he passed by Rachel Foster, and she offered a polite smile in return.
Emerging from his office, Kingsly naturally draped an arm around her and asked, "Why come all this way only to stand outside instead of coming in?" His gentle tone now was a world away from the steely manner he'd used with his staff moments before.
"Not at all—I just didn't want to disturb your work," she replied.
With his arm still around her shoulders, Kingsly led her into his office, smiling as he said, "There's still some business to handle today… but right now, I'd much rather be with my wife."
Rachel halted and gave him a teasing, impish look. "You're slacking off on the job."
Narrowing his eyes, Kingsly shot her a sidelong glance. "Who would dare say that?"
