Xiao Wu's comment made even the typically reserved Zhu Zhuqing chime in, "Yes, I heard it too!" Faced with the accusations from her two close friends, even Ning Rongrong's thick skin couldn't withstand the pressure. She snapped, "Why are you two only picking on me? Yes, I like Yun Feng, but don't you?!"
As soon as Ning Rongrong said this, the room fell silent. Both Xiao Wu and Zhu Zhuqing blushed deeply, their expressions betraying their embarrassment. Seeing the impact of her words, Ning Rongrong pressed on. "Don't act so high and mighty! Sure, I came to Yun Feng for a leg massage, but what about you two? What were you doing hiding in his bed? If you didn't have feelings for him, why come to him at this hour?"
Her barrage left Xiao Wu and Zhu Zhuqing struggling to respond, but finally, Xiao Wu retorted, "So what if I like Yun Feng? At least I didn't try to sneak around behind everyone's back! I thought we agreed on fair competition!" Zhu Zhuqing nodded firmly in agreement. "Exactly!"
Yun Feng, standing awkwardly to the side, was utterly stunned. On one hand, it was flattering to be the center of attention, but the heated argument was starting to wear on his patience. He attempted to interject, "Um..." But before he could get a word in, the three girls shot him a synchronized glare and snapped, "Shut up!"
Realizing it wasn't the right time to mediate, Yun Feng wisely stepped back, giving them space to hash things out. However, after a few minutes of escalating tensions, the trio turned their attention to him, fixing him with a united, piercing stare. "Yun Feng," they said in unison, "which one of us do you like?" The question was asked three times, nearly frying Yun Feng's brain.
Who did he like? The truth was obvious—he liked all three of them. But admitting that out loud could mean disaster. Still, evasion wasn't his style. Taking a deep breath, Yun Feng decided to follow his heart. "I like all three of you. I know it might sound selfish, but I can't imagine giving up any of you."
As expected, his confession left the girls stunned, their expressions conflicted. Who didn't dream of being their lover's one and only? Even sharing with close friends left a bitter taste. But as they looked at Yun Feng's sincere expression and then at each other, none of them said a word. They simply exchanged glances and, with a final look at Yun Feng, left the room together.
As the door closed behind them, Yun Feng slumped back, sighing heavily. "What a mess..." Despite the awkward encounter, Yun Feng couldn't help but notice that none of the girls had shown any signs of disgust or rejection. This meant there was still hope for a harmonious resolution—eventually.
After all, in this world of endless possibilities, why not aim for the best of all worlds? With a wry smile, Yun Feng shook his head and began meditating to clear his thoughts.
The Next Day. The group resumed their journey early the next morning, crossing the border into the Sylvis Kingdom. Thankfully, Flender didn't push the pace this time, opting for a more relaxed speed. By the end of the day, they arrived at Sylvis City, the kingdom's southern capital. Surprisingly, Flender chose this bustling metropolis as their resting place and even checked them into an upscale hotel.
"Flender, have you gone soft?" Zhao Wuji teased as they settled into their rooms. Even Yu Xiaogang, usually indifferent to such matters, found it unusual. Flender, known for his thriftiness, was suddenly behaving out of character—booking multiple rooms and splurging on accommodations.
The mystery deepened during dinner, where the spread was unexpectedly lavish. Flender, always the penny-pincher, was treating everyone like royalty. As the meal progressed, the truth finally came out.
Flender raised his wine glass and smiled warmly. "You've all worked hard these past two days. Tonight, enjoy yourselves. But, little monsters, remember—only one glass of wine each!" As everyone began eating, Dai Mubai leaned over to whisper to Tang San, "Something's off. I'd rather see him being stern than smiling like this. It feels... sinister."
"You think there's a catch?" Tang San asked. Dai Mubai nodded. "Just wait. I'm sure he has some scheme in mind." Sure enough, after a few rounds of food and drink, Flender cleared his throat and addressed the group. "You've had your break. Tonight, you'll be participating in the group battle at Sylvis City's Great Spirit Arena. Just one match—nothing too strenuous. We'll leave early tomorrow."
Dai Mubai smirked knowingly. "And the winnings? Are we handing them over to the academy?" Flender feigned outrage. "How dare you suggest such a thing? The academy may be closing, but I'm still your honorable headmaster. Do you think I'd stoop so low?" Dai Mubai was caught off guard. He had fully expected Flender to demand their winnings, given their high rank and earning potential. But now, he was starting to second-guess himself.
Had Flender really changed?
