On Tenrou Island, the battles raged in multiple locations:
Zancrow vs. Natsu
Zancrow conjured black flames in his hand and hurled them at Natsu.
"Fire is useless against me!" Natsu tried to devour the flames at first, but—
"Mr. Natsu! No!" Wendy cried out. "I have a bad feeling about that fire!"
"Aaaagh!!" Natsu's eyes went wide—he couldn't eat Zancrow's black flames.
"Natsu–!!" Happy exclaimed.
Carla gasped. "The Dragon Slayer can't eat these flames?!"
Zancrow sneered. "Hee hee hee… This is the 'God' flame, above dragon flame. If you try to eat it, you'll be punished by the gods. Your magic level is nowhere near it. See, I'm a God Slayer—a tester of gods. Woo la la la la la!"
Natsu grimaced, lashing out with a punch that Zancrow blocked.
Zancrow taunted, "Woo hee hee, that's all a Dragon Slayer can do? So weak."
"Who taught you god magic? Another person? Or an actual god?!" Natsu demanded.
Zancrow shrugged. "President Hades is sometimes called a god, so you could say he gave me this Lost Magic. Call it a gift from 'God.'"
"What?! So it's still from a human after all! I was taught by an actual dragon!" Natsu's voice rose. "Fire Dragon's… Flaming Lotus!!"
"Fire God's… Kagutsuchi!!"
Two massive fireballs collided midair, their combined force blowing away "Happy" and shaking the surroundings with intense heat.
"Those flames are so hot!" Carla winced at the heat.
Wendy shielded her eyes. "It's the clash of Dragon and God magic…"
Natsu roared as he was sent reeling by the collision.
Zancrow cackled. "Hahaha!"
"Natsu is—losing?!" Happy cried in disbelief.
Carla noted, "He wasted a lot of magic fighting Azuma earlier."
Happy blanched. "Oh, right…"
Zancrow heard them. "Annoying cats!" With a flick of his wrist, he spewed black flames at Happy and Carla.
"You bastard—!" Natsu hissed, mustering all his remaining magic in his lungs.
"Fire Dragon's Roar!!"
Fwoosh—!! A massive firestorm blasted toward Zancrow.
He opened his mouth wide and inhaled.
"Hahaha, that's tasty. Flames that burn forever… But no matter how strong a dragon might be, it's still nothing compared to a god. This is Grimoire Heart's brand of magic—God Slaying!"
"Fire God's Rage!!"
Zancrow mimicked a version of the Dragon's Roar, spurting black flames straight into Natsu, blasting him away.
"Aaaaaah!!"
Gray, Lucy, Loke, and Cana vs. Capricorn
In another part of the island, Gray, Lucy, Loke, and Cana clashed with a single foe: Capricorn. Despite their numbers, they were finding themselves on the defensive.
"This is insane," Gray growled. "Four of us ganging up, and he's not even breaking a sweat."
Cana frowned, eyes darting around, searching for an opening.
Elfman and Evergreen vs. Rustyrose
Nearby, Elfman and Evergreen were being pursued by a colossal monster summoned by Rustyrose.
"What the hell is that thing?!" Elfman bellowed, trying to hold his ground.
Evergreen gritted her teeth. "Stop yelling at me and do something! This is your fight, too."
Standing off to the side, Rustyrose chuckled. "May I present my holy beast, Belcusas of the Gale."
Evergreen fired needle-like bombs—Fairy Machine Gun: Little Fairies—but after the dust cleared, the monster remained unscathed.
"How can it be…?!" she gasped.
Taking advantage of their shock, the monster lunged at Evergreen.
"Watch out!" Elfman roared, charging forward. He blocked the beast's claws with his body, momentarily receiving it. "Why aren't you using petrification?"
Evergreen snapped, "Don't you get it? That only works on humans!"
"Then petrify the summoner!"
"How can I? He's wearing glasses. I can't petrify someone if I can't see his eyes!"
"You're useless!"
"Shut up, musclehead!"
While they quarreled, Rustyrose watched without attacking further, apparently amused. "Hah. You two fight like a couple in the middle of a spat–"
"We're not dating!!" Elfman and Evergreen shouted in unison.
Angry and flustered, Evergreen rushed Rustyrose. "I've figured out your magic—like Lucy's Celestial Spirits, you're summoning these illusions or beasts, right? Which means your own combat ability must be—"
But Rustyrose smirked. "I am the King of the Netherworld. My left arm is a black blade that carves everything, burying it in eternal darkness." His left arm transformed into a dark, fiendish claw that slashed Evergreen, knocking her aside.
"Ughhh!" Evergreen collapsed with a cry, wounded.
"Evergreen!!" Elfman cried in alarm, inadvertently leaving himself open. The huge, summoned monster smashed him with a single punch.
Bang—!!
Elfman went flying. "Guh…my transformation—"
With a painful grunt, he reverted to human form. "What kind of magic is that?" he groaned.
Rustyrose laughed haughtily. "Trash like you wouldn't understand. I wield magic that touches the abyss. A sad fate, maybe, but once we get Zeref, that tragedy will end, and a brand-new magical age will be born."
He spread his arms, eyes alight with fervor. "A 'Great World of Magic,' inhabited only by 'magic' itself—where chaos and the arcane reign supreme! Those without magic will perish in that inferno…or at best, suffer eternally. Isn't it beautiful? A world for us alone! Once Zeref becomes king, we'll usher it in."
Su Yan vs. Hades & Bluenote (continuation)
Hades's and Bluenote's simultaneous onslaught had seemingly pinned Su Yan, but with a fearsome blow, he had repelled them again and launched Bluenote flying out into the open sea, leaving Hades alone against him. Elsewhere, Fairy Tail and Grimoire Heart's strongest clashed, each seeking control of Tenrou Island's destiny.
