Chapter 10 - POOR DARLA

The next morning came swiftly, Darla lying on her bed reminisced the events of the last night with a sweet smile on her face. She seemed to find this person she'd rescued endearing, she had not expected how she longed to provoke him to care for her, something was changing in her and she suspected it had everything to do with him.

"Are you up, Darling? How are you feeling? All good now?" Wolf walked into her room with a worried expression, it happened that she'd indeed caused him worry last night.

"Yeah, I feel better now, thank you for taking care of me, Wolf. Help me up, please?" She smiled gratefully even though it was just her intention to get him to worry for her.

He helped her to the restroom so she could wash up and excused himself. She watched him flee with a smile on her face.

Soon enough she finished her business and walked out of her room, only to find him pacing in the living area with a concerned expression, it seemed like he'd drawn a map of the whole room in his head as he was just walking around inattentively almost bumping into her.

"What's wrong with you?" She inquired.

He paused, not looking her int he eyes he stated "I have to go."

He seemed to have known the effects of his word as he just sat down and observed her.

Her heart sank to the bottom of the sea. Why was he leaving?

Did he hate her for trying to trick him? What, why?

She was confused as to how he could make such an abrupt decision. Her thoughts were running a million miles per hour and his silence was making things worse, it was almost compelling her to apologize and beg him to stay.

Meanwhile, Rhode was carefully examining her reactions.

Poor girl, had no idea how easily he could read her, her feelings were pasted right onto her face, how could he not tell what she was feeling, deep down he felt quite satisfied that she couldn't bear to see him go. He was also getting a sort of revenge for her naughtiness from the previous night.

But he had to leave, for now, to take care of those bastards that had hurt him. He knew they were going to come back, heck, he knew they were on the lookout for him to finish the job they'd started.

What fools! How careless they were not finishing the job when they had the chance. Now he was not going to spare even an hair on their head. He also knew he had to do it fast before they found out about Darla. Not because he couldn't protect his sweet girl but why have her worry about some useless fools that couldn't even get the job done.

"Darling, easy. I just have to take care of some business, I'll be back in no time. Sweet Darling, how could I ever leave you? I'll take a while but I promise you I won't take too long. I promise." He explained coaxingly.

His words gave her a bit of security until she remembered he was still going to leave. She understood he had a life before she'd rescued him and if he had to take care of things on that side she would give him time, but only on the grounds that he came back to her.

"Alright then, I'll take your word for it. But I'll only give you two weeks, if you do not come back by then…" she said, even though she agreed to let him go, what if he didn't come back or he forgot about her. She wouldn't waste her time nor his like that.

Her words undoubtedly gave him a surprise as he never expected she'd set him an ultimatum, but that only made things easier, it meant he'd have to deal with those bastards more ruthlessly now that he couldn't have his fun with them.

He looked at her eyes that were now red making her seem aggrieved, he wanted to kiss them, but he knew she might not allow him.

Since she'd set an ultimatum for him, he would set a condition for her also.

"I understand. But I also want you to promise me something, darling, until I return, I don't want you seeing Shame alone, you can have him stay outside while you help him arrange the orders, I'll take over when I get back. I don't want you alone with him what if he tries something. Promise me?" He said to her.

"His name is Shane, Wolf. And I need his help on the orders, I can't promise that I won't be alone, besides what makes you think I'll promise you to stay away from another man?" Her defiance questioned his guts, it was like she found it ridiculous having her promise him such.

"Are you saying you wouldn't promise me, Darla?" He questioned.

"I'm not, besides it's your decision to leave, what does it have to do with me what you want me to do when you're not here, I was busy living my life before you got here, Wolf." She addressed.

He looked angry but she didn't care. First, he was leaving without considering her feelings and now he still wanted her to stay away from the one person that had been of help to her since the beginning. What if he never came back? Was she supposed to keep off other men forever? How ridiculous!

Sensing that she would not be amenable to force now, he decided to coax her instead. The thought of other men being in the same space as her while he was not here displeased him, but she didn't seem to care, it was fine when it happened before he got to know her, but she was strong on her ground. He knew he had to compromise, this time.

"Good, I understand. Looks like I would be rushing back in no time, take good care, Darla. Wait for me." He stated and made his way out, not even looking back for once.

She wanted to stop him, but he seemed determined to not stay, especially after she had declined and defied him. Deep down, she knew she hurt him, besides he wasn't asking a lot from her, and Shane only came by a few days in the week.

She worried for him.

He was long gone.

Poor Darla.
