A moon later,
Ah! This is… real? Is this an illusion? At first, I had these questions plaguing my mind. After all, who would believe that I was reincarnated, not just any person or world but into Planetos, and as Aegon II?
I could still remember it, getting crushed by the truck, the tyre squashing my head…. But it's undeniable that this is my new reality.
Her loving gaze, her soft touch, her adoring words made me accept my new reality.
Alicent Hightower, the Queen of the Iron Throne, is a girl forced to marry a man her father's age.
Unloved by her husband and ignored by her father, the love she had shown me was different from what I had seen in the show.
Haha! Of course, she's clueless at times; after all, she's still too young by my previous world standards. But she tries her best; there wasn't a look of burden on her face, but only of pure love; at least, that was what she had shown me till now.
I've come to terms with it, my death I mean. It was hard; almost all my memories are of my past life, joyful and sad. Yet, I had to; it would be unfair after all, for my new family.
It's also because of the knowledge of the fact that this false sense of peace wouldn't be for long.
Alicent Hightower lived past her children, from Aegon to Daeron, all dead before her.
But I will not let it happen this time; I at least owe it to her, my new mother.
I will win this time!
I will win the dance!
...
BANG
Alicent entered the room, her face twisting in anger and frustration, an indication that she had just met her husband.
'That man! Couldn't he have spared just an hour for his own son?! His firstborn?!'
Slumping on the bed, her fingers picked at each other; she was tired of trying to convince him.
A thing she had long found to be futile, but still tried to persevere, 'What's so important that he can't spare a single second to even glance at his son?!'
Her heart was pounding against her chest; it was too much!
Aegon, in the cradle beside the bed, noticed his mother's expression, 'What happened? Did the king say something?' He mumbled inwardly.
He knew it was most likely the king at this point; after all, Rhaenyra was still a child no more than ten.
And the only one who could make her this angst was either the king or Otto, her father.
'But it must be Viserys, after all, I haven't seen him like ever! It could be that he refused to see me? Heh! A coward like always!'
But he quickly shook his head inwardly, 'I can think about that coward later,' he muttered inwardly, 'I should do something about her.'
Soon, an idea struck his mind: 'That could lighten the mood,' he thought to himself before taking a deep breath and,
WAAAH WAAAH
His loud cries echoed in the room, causing Alicent to snap out of her daze and turn toward Aegon.
She rushed to him, "What happened, sweetling?" she asked softly, taking him into her arms, a slight frown creasing her brows.
But before she could comprehend what made her son cry, as soon as Aegon was in her arms,
GIGGLE
He began to giggle, raising his little arm to her cheek, caressing her gently.
The frown in her brows increased; she couldn't understand why her son was now laughing. But still, Aegon continued, 'Maybe I couldn't make her laugh, but still, I could take her mind off troubling things.'
And it seemed like his plan had worked out, as a small smile bloomed on Alicent's face, his infectious smile spreading to her.
She hugged her son tightly, rocking him slowly as she closed her eyes.
'Good, she's smiling,' Aegon mumbled inwardly, 'Also, she smells nice! Like small herbs? I don't know, but I like it,' he commented.
And soon, Aegon felt sleepy; his infant body couldn't stay awake for long and fell asleep. Until then, Alicent cradled him, rocking him and walking him around the room.
And with a kiss on his forehead, she put him in his cradle, whispering, "Sleep well, my little king," with a smile.
....
"Hmmm? Where am I….?" Aegon mumbled as he found himself standing in some sort of black void, filled with white smoke blocking his vision, nothing visible after a few feet.
His heartbeat increased as he looked around, trying to make sense of things. "Where am I?" he asked once more.
BADUMP
Was it all a lie? The reincarnation! Being born as Aegon! Was it all a lie and that he was just imagining things while floating in this black void?
He looked down at himself; he was back in his old body, the body he had in his previous life.
BADUMP
His eyes widened, his heart thumping against his chest, "I-I'm not….Aegon?" He stuttered, his limbs trembling.
No! This cannot happen! He cannot leave them! He cannot leave her! He finally found it… a semblance of love!
A tear left his eye, his voice cracking, "E-Even if it's a lie, an illusion, I want to go back," he mumbled aloud.
But just then, as he was about to become depressed,
VOOM
A deep hum trembled through the void, the white smoke vibrating in resonance.
It was deep, as if it belonged to an ancient monster that had just woken up, and it shook Aegon.
BADUMP
His breath became ragged, while his chest heaved, sweat trickling down his face as an unknown pressure began to surmount him.
'W-What is happening?!' he exclaimed inwardly, as he tried to take a step, but couldn't… he couldn't move his limbs.
His legs felt stuck, as if getting buried under quicksand; he felt himself losing control of his body.
'What is happening—'
VOOOM
The hum echoed once again, this time far stronger than the previous one, as if the beast were acknowledging its presence and responding.
Aegon searched, his gaze darting around void for the source of the hum ... and that's when he saw it.
BADUMP
It was large, perhaps larger than King's Landing itself. Its wings, big enough to shadow modern cities, and its three heads are bigger than entire houses.
His breath hitched, his legs quivering in fright while his eyes trembled; there were three pairs of golden eyes, staring menacingly at him.
"Ghi–"
BADUMP
His legs couldn't take it; they buckled under the enormous pressure, and he couldn't stare back at the beast.
But it wasn't just any beast! No! It was the zeroth monster! The false king! It was,
"Ghi-ghi-ghi–"
ROOOOOOAAAAAARRRRRRR
