"Haaah, this is….boring!" a man mumbled to himself, his eyes glancing at the blue screen with utter boredom.
He appeared to be in his late twenties, with patches of unkempt beard dotting his chin, while his eyes had dark circles under them.
GROWL
Just then, his stomach growled, causing him to grumble in annoyance, "Ugh, I've got to eat something."
He then looked around his desk, which was filled with empty noodle cups and Pringles cans; he didn't have any left to eat.
TSK
Clicking his tongue, "I have to go out?" he muttered, his energy already draining.
But still, he got up from his seat, almost stepping on an empty can of soda.
It wasn't surprising, though; it had been almost a year since he had even cleaned his house. And now, it actually smells like a rotten corpse.
But the man ignored everything and walked towards the door. And as he did so, his indifferent gaze landed on a photo frame.
BADUMP
"M-Mom…." he stuttered. His heart thumped against his chest as his eyes moistened.
It was a photo of three: the man, another one, along with an older woman.
It was a family photo of him, his brother, and their mother. Sadly, they died in an accident, causing the man to shut himself off from the outside world.
SIGH
Sighing to himself, he gathered his wits, 'I miss you guys,' he mumbled to himself before opening the door and walking out.
….
The man walked down the street, holding a bag of cup noodles. The supermarket was near his house, so it was quick.
He had his head low, his gaze to the ground, avoiding any interaction with others. But as he walked back, he heard two voices from behind.
"Hey, have you watched the new House of the Dragon season yet?" It was of a boy, maybe in his high school.
"Nah, man." Another voice replied, "I was busy watching Godzilla!"
"Dude, why are you obsessed with that movie?! You have watched it like a hundred times!!" said the other; he knew his friend was obsessed with it, but couldn't understand what's so special about it.
"Tsk, how would you know…?"
The man stopped in his steps as he heard the banter of the two teenagers, his jaw clenched as an image flashed across his eyes.
It was an image of him and his brother, bantering and fighting about something, and their mother punishing them for fighting.
CHUCKLE
A rare chuckle escaped his lips, perhaps the first time since the death of his family. He turned around, wanting to see more of their banter.
But the kids weren't there; frowning, he looked around before noticing that they were crossing the street, still engrossed in their argument.
A small smile bloomed on his lips as he watched them, but then,
HONK
He heard a loud honk from a truck coming from the right.
The man snapped his head, looking to his right only for his eyes to widen in shock as he saw a large truck hurtling down the street.
He turned towards the teenagers, still in their argument, not noticing the truck.
"H-Hey!" he yelled at the teens, but they didn't hear him.
BADUMP
Unconsciously, he took a step forward; he couldn't let them die! Not again!
He ran towards them, his heart racing, "Hey! Watch out—"
But you see, the thing is, he didn't look at the other side.
BANG
A car ran him over from the other side, sending him flying before he crashed into the very truck he was trying to warn about.
CRASH
THUD
SCREECH
The truck came to a screeching halt as the driver pressed the brakes, causing the man to fall under the tires.
CRACK
Everything happened so fast; before the man could even comprehend what was happening, his head was under a tire.
'Mom….'
That was his last thought as the tyre ran over him and his head burst apart like a melon, his brain goo splattered all over the road.
A deathly silence filled the street as the people around stared at the mangled body.
What just happened?! Everyone was thinking the same.
The two teenagers stared at the headless corpse, their hands trembling in fright. A stranger had saved them, giving up his life in the process.
.....
In one of the chambers of the Red Keep, a beautiful teenage girl sat on a chair by the window, her green eyes gazing out at the sea.
Her slender arms held a baby, an infant with silver-white hair.
A cool breeze brushed past them, stirring the baby awake, his purple eyes staring at the girl.
The girl, noticing the baby's gaze, turned to him as a beautiful smile crept onto her lips.
Her fingers brushed against his cheeks while her eyes flickered with love.
"My little Aegon!"
