Eleanor stepped out of her black car, adjusting the large sunglasses perched on her nose.
A wide-brimmed hat covered most of her dark hair, and her long trench coat concealed the elegant yet understated black dress underneath.
She had gone the extra mile to ensure no one would recognize her—no reporters, no spies, and certainly not anyone who could tie her to what had happened with her breakup with Alexander.
She took a deep breath and pushed open the café door.
The inside was almost eerily quiet, save for one person sitting at a booth near the back... Alexander.
He leaned back in his seat, fingers lazily scrolling through his phone, unbothered, relaxed—too relaxed.
Eleanor's sharp eyes swept over the place. No other customers. No staff in sight. Just her and Alexander.
He lifted his gaze, his eyebrows furrowing slightly as he saw her standing at the entrance.
At first, he didn't recognize her.
