Chapter 124 - Chapter 124 Odin: Too Far.

Luo Bai understood the situation perfectly.

Even though Odin's personality had changed significantly with age, there was no way he would bring his mount, Sleipnir, to Luo Bai without a reason.

His reluctance to part with it likely meant that he was hoping Luo Bai could assist him during Ragnarok.

Thinking of this, Luo Bai couldn't help but sigh.

"There's no such thing as a free lunch in this world," he muttered.

Wong, however, knew little about Ragnarok.

After all, it was an Asgardian secret, and Kamar-Taj's library held no records of the event.

Since he had no knowledge of the "Twilight of the Gods," Wong naturally found Luo Bai's words puzzling.

"Asgard has gods like Odin and Thor. How could we at Kamar-Taj possibly help them?" Wong asked, unable to hide his curiosity.

Luo Bai thought for a moment before replying, "It's complicated. To put it simply, Asgard is in serious trouble—a crisis so great that even Odin himself can't solve it."

Asgard facing a catastrophe? And even Odin was powerless against it?

If that were true, everything suddenly made sense.

"No wonder Odin keeps giving you so many things. I thought he was trying to recruit you and make you the next King of the Gods," Wong muttered.

It was understandable for Wong to overthink the situation.

Odin had been unusually generous to Luo Bai.

First, Gungnir—the Spear of Eternity.

Now, Sleipnir—his personal mount.

If anyone else were in Luo Bai's position, they'd be just as confused.

Luo Bai, aware of how it looked, chose not to dwell on it and changed the subject instead.

"Alright, Wong. You'll be responsible for taking care of this horse from now on. Oh, and after you settle Sleipnir, go check on Odin. If he has any requests, try your best to accommodate him," Luo Bai instructed.

Wong agreed, then turned to admire Sleipnir.

"As expected of the God King's mount... it looks majestic," he said in awe.

With that, Wong led Sleipnir away.

Once he was gone, Luo Bai finally had some time to focus on his own matters.

Now that he had created his own Dark Dimension and was planning to develop a higher-level lifeform, he needed a tremendous amount of energy to support it.

He had already absorbed most of the energy from entities like Shuma-Gorath and other dark gods. It would take time for them to recover, meaning Luo Bai had to venture into the multiverse to gather more power.

However, knowing that he had to oversee Wong's lessons for the students the next day, Luo Bai didn't linger too long.

After absorbing some energy from the multiverse, he returned to Kamar-Taj the following morning—just in time to see the mages preparing for training.

Coincidentally, just as he was about to look for Odin, he saw the God King arriving at the New York Sanctum.

At that moment, Odin wore a deep frown, his expression filled with obvious displeasure.

The moment they met, Odin couldn't help but complain.

"I always thought that as a sacred sanctuary of magic, Kamar-Taj would be on par with Asgard. I didn't expect the difference to be this vast," he grumbled.

Hearing this, Luo Bai chuckled.

"To be honest, I thought the same thing. When I first visited Asgard, I considered renovating Kamar-Taj. But I never found the time," he admitted.

"I won't even mention the other areas, but your dormitories definitely need an upgrade," Odin continued to complain.

It was clear that Odin had rarely—if ever—endured hardships in his life.

And the only hardship he had ever experienced... was staying at Kamar-Taj.

Seeing Odin's sour expression, Luo Bai decided not to argue and instead changed the subject.

"God King, why did you come looking for me? I was just about to find you," he asked.

"Didn't you say yesterday that you'd take me to the training ground?" Odin reminded him.

The moment he mentioned the training ground, his mood visibly improved.

Noticing the shift, Luo Bai smiled.

"Well, I was just heading there myself. Let's go," he said.

With that, he led Odin to the training ground.

Mage training at Kamar-Taj was generally divided into three stages.

The first stage focused on teaching mages how to absorb energy from the multiverse.

The second stage involved training them in the use of portals.

The third stage was dedicated to honing their melee combat abilities.

By the time all three stages were complete, the session would usually be over.

When Luo Bai and Odin arrived at the training ground, the students were still in the first stage—learning how to absorb energy.

In truth, Kamar-Taj had few truly powerful mages.

Most of those who joined had at least some level of talent.

But as humans, their natural abilities were far inferior to Asgardian warriors.

After observing for a while, Odin sighed in disappointment.

"To be honest, I think Kamar-Taj's mages are much weaker than Asgard's warriors," he remarked.

Luo Bai didn't argue and simply responded, "That's to be expected. Humans and Asgardians are fundamentally different."

"The people of Asgard are born with strength, whereas the mages of Kamar-Taj must absorb energy. The amount they can take in depends on their talent, which naturally creates disparities in power," he explained.

After hearing this, Odin nodded in agreement.

"That makes sense," he admitted.

In fact, Odin wanted to visit the training ground to observe the mages in action, mainly to compare the difference between Kamar-Taj's mages and Asgard's warriors.

At first, Odin wasn't particularly curious.

After all, in his view, the people of Asgard were naturally far stronger than humans on Earth.

It wasn't just Odin who thought this—almost all Asgardians shared the same belief.

But after meeting Luo Bai, Odin started to question that assumption.

Luo Bai was simply too powerful—so overwhelmingly strong that it felt almost unfair, as if he were cheating.

Compared to Luo Bai, his two sons were hardly worth mentioning!

At first, Odin even wondered... Had humans on Earth evolved somehow?!

But after coming here in person and observing the training, he was finally reassured.

No, humanity hadn't evolved. Luo Bai was just an anomaly.

These mages were simply not on the same level as Luo Bai.

Odin had assumed that with Luo Bai at Kamar-Taj, the overall quality of the mages would be impressive. But in reality, they seemed far inferior to Asgard's warriors.

One mage in particular struggled to absorb even the slightest bit of energy.

This sight made Odin feel relieved.

Thankfully, Asgard's bloodline was still far superior to that of humans.

Of course, he couldn't be too smug about it. So, pretending to be deep in thought, he frowned and commented, "When I first saw you, I thought Kamar-Taj had become incredibly powerful. But now, looking at these mages... they are far behind you. Just look at that one—he can't even absorb energy properly."

Odin's gaze locked onto a particular mage in the training field.

Following his line of sight, Luo Bai immediately recognized who Odin was referring to—Strange, who had just arrived yesterday.

Seeing this, Luo Bai reminded him, "That mage's name is Strange. He only joined Kamar-Taj yesterday."

Odin paused for a moment, then muttered in realization, "No wonder. I was wondering why he wasn't able to absorb energy no matter how hard he tried. But even the others don't seem much better. Unlike us Asgardians, who are natural-born warriors—you can tell just by looking at us."

Odin couldn't help but speak his mind, a hint of pride appearing on his face.

It was obvious what he was implying—Kamar-Taj's mages weren't as good as Asgard's warriors.

As the Supreme Sorcerer, Luo Bai immediately countered, "Back when the Ancient One was here, Kamar-Taj followed the philosophy of teaching without discrimination. As a result, many of our mages weren't particularly talented.

However, the disciples I've recently taken under my wing are quite gifted.

Master Strange, for example, has exceptional potential."
