Seeing Odin suddenly appear in front of him, Luo Bai couldn't help but frown.
At this moment, Odin was dressed casually, looking as if he were on vacation.
After sizing him up for a long moment, Luo Bai finally asked, "Why are you here?"
Odin responded with a warm smile, "I wanted to come to your place for some rest."
Hearing this, Luo Bai couldn't help but sigh. "So you really are here for a vacation."
Odin said nothing in response. Instead, he found a wooden chair and sat down.
Once seated, he began explaining, "I have been the King of the Gods for thousands of years, and I'm tired. I wanted to take a break, but I had nowhere to go. After thinking it over, I decided to come here. If you don't mind, I'd like to stay with you for a while."
His face showed exhaustion, and for some reason, Luo Bai felt that he looked far older than before.
Probably because of Ragnarok, he thought.
With that in mind, Luo Bai asked, "I don't mind, but tell me the truth—are you here because Ragnarok is approaching?"
Odin nodded, his expression tinged with melancholy. "Asgard and I don't have much time left."
Luo Bai could understand his current mood, so after a brief moment of thought, he said, "Alright, you can stay. But there's nothing particularly interesting about Kamar-Taj. I'll have Wong take you around later."
However, Odin frowned in dissatisfaction. "I am the King of the Gods, you know. At least give me some respect and accompany me for two days."
"…"
The older people get, the more they start acting like children.
If Luo Bai didn't know that the old man in front of him was the legendary Odin—the conqueror of the Nine Realms—he would have assumed he was just some spoiled old man throwing a tantrum.
Still, thinking about it, accompanying Odin around Kamar-Taj wasn't entirely impossible.
With Mordo gone, Wong had taken over training the new apprentices, and as the Sorcerer Supreme, Luo Bai needed to supervise him sooner or later anyway.
After considering this, Luo Bai sighed and shrugged. "Fine. But it's too late today, so I won't be able to accompany you right now. Wait until tomorrow. I'll take you to the training grounds to watch the apprentice sorcerers practice."
The moment he mentioned the training grounds, Odin's previously gloomy expression brightened.
After all, when he was younger, besides fighting, his favorite thing to do was watching warriors train.
Under his command, Asgardian soldiers had become renowned for their strength and bravery. He was curious—how did the sorcerers of Kamar-Taj compare?
The thought of it made Odin smile. "That sounds excellent."
Luo Bai figured that since Odin was still a god-king, he might as well personally escort him to his quarters.
"Alright, it's getting late. Time for you to rest," Luo Bai said as he summoned a portal.
The shimmering gateway opened, revealing Kamar-Taj's dormitory on the other side.
Upon arrival, before Odin could say anything, Luo Bai continued, "This is the sorcerers' dormitory. If you don't mind, you can stay here during your visit."
Compared to Asgard—especially Odin's grand palace—the dormitories of Kamar-Taj were downright humble.
Odin's face twitched in dissatisfaction as he glanced around.
"Is Kamar-Taj's dormitory always this… plain?" he asked.
Luo Bai frowned and muttered, "You're staying here for free, old man. I'm already being generous by letting you stay, and you still have complaints?"
Odin scoffed and retorted, "Who said I was staying here for free?"
Then, without warning, he shouted, "Come!"
Before Luo Bai could react, a majestic white horse galloped into the dormitory from outside.
Luo Bai's eyes widened in surprise. "Wait… is this Sleipnir?"
Odin nodded with a proud smile. "Good eye. Yes, this is Sleipnir, my mount."
Sleipnir—Odin's legendary eight-legged steed.
With a coat as white as freshly fallen snow, it possessed incredible speed and formidable combat abilities, carrying Odin across the Nine Realms.
Just like Gungnir—the Spear of Eternity—Sleipnir was one of Odin's most powerful assets.
And now, Odin had brought him here.
A realization dawned on Luo Bai. "Wait… are you saying you're giving Sleipnir to me?"
Odin nodded and gently stroked the horse's mane. "Sleipnir never accepted either of my sons as his master. And with Ragnarok drawing near, Asgard will soon fall."
"If he stays in Asgard, he'll eventually be forgotten. A warhorse like him deserves better than that—he deserves a master who can truly utilize his strength."
"If he's willing to recognize you as his master, then he is yours."
As soon as Odin finished speaking, Sleipnir, who had been standing obediently while Odin stroked him, suddenly let out a loud neigh.
Then, without hesitation, he turned away from Odin and faced Luo Bai, leaving only his hindquarters toward his former master.
Odin, who had been reminiscing while petting his horse, immediately understood what was happening.
Sleipnir was... acknowledging Luo Bai.
And he couldn't wait to do it!!!
Although Odin had originally intended to give Sleipnir to Luo Bai, parting with the horse still felt bittersweet. He and Sleipnir had fought side by side for many years.
Now, seeing how readily Sleipnir accepted Luo Bai as his new master, Odin couldn't help but feel a little betrayed.
"Ah..." Odin sighed helplessly.
It had been the same with Gungnir, the Spear of Eternity. And now, it was happening again with Sleipnir.
The more he thought about it, the more frustrating it became.
But there was nothing he could do. With a resigned shake of his head, Odin muttered, "Even though I planned to give Sleipnir to you, I can't help but feel a little... unsettled."
He then looked at Luo Bai with a sorrowful expression and sighed again. "Ah, to be young again... It reminds me of the old days—"
Before he could continue reminiscing, Luo Bai cut him off. "Since the God King has traveled all the way from Asgard just to gift me a horse, I'll gladly accept it. But it's getting late. You should rest, God King. Tomorrow, I'll take you around Kamar-Taj."
With that, Luo Bai led Sleipnir away, opened a portal, and stepped through it.
By the time Odin snapped out of his thoughts, he was alone in the simple dormitory.
Looking around at the plain furnishings, he suddenly shouted in frustration, "Wait a minute! I gave you a horse—at least give me a better room! And get me some attendants!!!"
Odin's voice echoed through the halls.
Luo Bai heard every word.
But he ignored it.
At that moment, his priority was handing Sleipnir over to Wong so that he could help take care of it.
When Wong saw the eight-legged horse appear, his first reaction was:
"Sorcerer Supreme, did you go to Asgard to steal something again?"
Luo Bai frowned. "What do you mean, steal? Odin gave it to me."
Wong narrowed his eyes. "If I'm not mistaken, this horse is called Sleipnir... Odin's personal mount. First, he gave you Gungnir, and now Sleipnir? What's next? Is he planning to make you the King of Asgard? You're the Sorcerer Supreme!"
Luo Bai waved his hand dismissively. "Wong, you're overthinking it. Odin only gave me these things because he hopes I'll be able to help Asgard."
