It's been a week since their trial has started, the first few days have been rough to say the least but there hasn't been any known casualties.
Everyone has been doing their part, lead by the masked girl of course, and they have also learned how to cooperate with each other.
Though there were some problem makers, they got through it fine, which surprised me a lot.
The masked girl was able to give us new weapons, this time it was not just crude swords made of stone glued to a stick.
"Seriously where did she even make these?"
One of the girls asked as she looked at the necklace with a gem attached to it, the insides of the gem seemed to swirl around, like the waves crashing on the shore.
" Let's not question it, atleast it can help you now right? You are a daughter of a mage after all!"
Roan said cheerfully as he took a few test swings at his new great sword that still is bigger than his young body.
" Grand daughter... Ah whatever, what's up with you Anne?"
The other girl named Anne, she was currently holding a small wand with the same gem on its tip, but this time it was red.
She closed her eyes and concentrated on her Mana.
Her focused it's flow around her body and sent it towards her hands, and the extended her Mana outwards onto a single point, the wand.
The Mana around the wand became faint and suddenly, the gem at the wands head glowed softly and a small flame like that of a candle appeared.
"Phew."
"Awesome!"
"That's so cool Anne!"
Her control wasn't as precise as the prestigious youngsters like Zhao Lina and Wang Zihan.
But it also wasn't as bad as the twins or that one commoner of Wang Zihan's group.
"She's only better than me at focusing her control, amazing."
I said in my mind, silently praising the girl who was introduced as Lia within the weeks all of us have been together.
The twins also received a modified weapon as well.
"Big brother, how do I make this work?"
"Don't ask me, we'll figure it out along the way."
They both recieved one dagger each, it had a gem on its hilt and a small engraving of runes over its handguard.
The masked girl ran out of materials from making catalysts and wands for us since almost everyone here we're mages.
As for me she didn't give me anything...
Remembering what she said it was quite disappointing.
– My dear brother, asking for a new weapon do early? That is too low of you, the brother I'm supposed to look up to doesn't even use a catalyst!
She said that with a happy tone of voice...
I sighed and turned towards the cave we've been assigned to today.
It should be a few more dungeon raids until we awaken, she's been hurrying us as well.
She seemed insistent on making us awaken quickly.
"We haven't found the other students who entered the trial, we don't even know if she is one of those people... Ahh I'm going to get a migraine..."
The dungeon was F+ this time, and it was home to a bunch of lesser golems
These golems were weak to elemental damage, so we mages have to get them onto a position where our melee attackers can get them.
However...
"Why am I in the melee team?"
I asked, a confused expression appearing on my usually not so expressive face.
Even Roan and the other combatants, the twins and commoners, were confused of why I was here despite being a mage.
The masked girl, currently unsealing the dungeon barrier which will be our battle ground for a while, turned to look over her shoulder.
Her mask was different this time, it was black, it was made of charred wood and it had black and gold engravings that formed a spider web over the eyes that were white in color.
"You do not have elemental magic," she replied nonchalantly as she returned to her work, she then added shortly:
"And the way you attack and defend is unique, you'll be second in command. I better see good things from you, brother."
After she said those words...
The magic seal she's been trying to lift has finally broke and large waves of energy poured out of the cave.
Dust and small rocks and boulders rolled out of the cave, and even more magical aura crashed through the youths.
It was only an F+ Class dungeon...
But to these young, none Awakened youths, it felt like they were about to send themselves to their deaths.
"What's the hold up all?"
Suddenly, everyone turned around and looked at Wang Zihan, this time he had a lesser kind of staff and had the same gem like all the other mages.
This one however, was much bigger and was like a diamond.
"It's just some F+ Class golems."
Wang Zihan strode confidently towards the front of the group, even passing the masked girl with a smile.
It's time to get even closer to Awakening...
