Chapter 143 - Ch.143 The Higher-Ups Arrive

Whether it's humans or Pokémon, they will all grow up someday.

Reality, after all, is not an anime.

It's impossible to remain ten years old after twenty years have passed.

Nor is it possible to only advance one grade after twenty-seven years.

Mischievous children will eventually grow into teenagers, experience the turbulence of youth and rebellion, and mature.

This process is even shorter for Pokémon.

The fastest-growing Bug-type Pokémon go without saying—the common Caterpie didn't take long to evolve into Butterfree, and even found a pink one to marry.

Even the most immature Pokémon, like Togepi, which is comparable to a baby, didn't stay with Misty for long before evolving into Togetic.

The chaos at Jujutsu High didn't last too long. After about a month, things had settled into a routine.

Although during that month, the daily routines of everyone at Jujutsu High had changed significantly, even after things stabilized, they didn't return to how they were before.

Early in the morning, just as the sky began to lighten.

What broke the silence wasn't the traditional crow of a rooster, but Larvitar's: "YOGI!"

The meaning was simple and clear: Wake up, it's time to eat!

This was the starting point, as the newly hatched Pokémon also began to make noise, expressing their desire to eat.

In this day and age, who isn't a foodie?

Growlithe's "Woof."

Alolan Vulpix's "Cool."

Serperior's "Tang Tang."

Altaria's "Di Lu."

Dratini's "MINI."

Feebas's "Kou Kou."

The remaining Voltorb, Miltank, and Gastly didn't spend much time at the school, so they didn't have the habit of greeting the morning with calls. However, their method of waking their trainers was just as unique.

Voltorb would stop charging and then "sit" on Gojo's face.

Gastly was a bit gentler. Since it couldn't make direct contact, it had to reluctantly use "Lick" to wake Fushiguro.

The result? Fushiguro woke up, but he ended up spending more time lying in bed than before. Gastly's paralysis effect was something even a superhuman like Ash Ketchum couldn't withstand.

According to Akira's estimation, if this continued, Fushiguro would either develop complete paralysis resistance or learn Reverse Cursed Technique to heal himself and remove negative status effects.

Truly a contributor to the "Green Meme," his talent in this area was nothing to worry about.

The most enviable trainer was undoubtedly Shoko Ieiri and her Miltank.

Shoko's habit of sleeping in due to hangovers had become the norm, so Miltank not only developed the habit of waking her up but also of serving tea and pouring milk.

For now, it was store-bought milk, but once Miltank matured and could produce its own milk, even buying milk would become unnecessary.

The Pokédex showed that Miltank could produce 20 liters of milk a day, with stable output and high quality.

If they could get a Pokémon like Chansey, a professional nurse Pokémon, Jujutsu High's breakfast could basically become self-sufficient.

After waking up, it was time for the usual morning training.

The trainers sparred, and the Pokémon trained alongside them.

Inspired by Inumaki Toge running with Growlithe, Akira realized that suppression wasn't the answer—playfulness was a child's nature. If properly guided and kept within controllable limits, it could actually be a good thing.

So, he switched to Professor Oak's template and created the most scientific training plan for each Pokémon.

Larvitar's digging training—combining eating and exercise. The more it trained, the more it ate.

Alolan Vulpix and Growlithe's speed races.

Both were known for their speed, and while Vulpix had a higher base speed stat, speed here didn't just refer to movement speed but also the speed of using moves.

In practice, Growlithe was faster because it was ten centimeters taller than Vulpix, with longer legs, while Vulpix's fluffy tail slowed it down.

After more than a month of growth, Vulpix's tail had fully split and spread, making the name "Vulpix" truly fitting.

Its Ice-type abilities had also further awakened, and it would occasionally exchange ice and fire attacks with Growlithe as a sign of friendship.

In this regard, Vulpix had the upper hand due to its "Snow Warning" ability.

Although it was still too young to truly change the weather, the local temperature changes were enough to give Growlithe a bit of a hard time.

Pokémon battles were also a regular part of daily training.

Whenever one pair of rivals started fighting, the others would tacitly join in.

For example, Serperior and Altaria's aerial vs. ground battles sometimes included Dratini and Feebas, turning into a free-for-all.

If Gojo and Fushiguro were around, Voltorb and Gastly would also join the fray. Voltorb would discharge electricity indiscriminately, while Gastly would float around, "teasing" everyone it encountered.

This eventually turned into a school-wide free-for-all.

But it was still under Akira's control. Gardevoir, Pangoro, and Darkrai—the seniors—were all keeping an eye on things.

Gardevoir's psychic powers went without saying.

Pangoro, with its thick skin and high defense, could physically intervene in the battles, picking up the younger siblings and carrying them away.

Darkrai, with its natural intimidation and the ability to put others to sleep with "Dark Void," could enforce control when necessary.

If anyone got hurt by accident, Miltank would arrive in time to provide treatment. If there were too many injuries and Miltank couldn't handle it alone, Akira still had the Lance template to fall back on.

After the battles, with their energy mostly spent, the Pokémon would calm down, and the trainers could begin their daily teaching routines.

First, there were large classes, covering both Jujutsu theory and basic cultural subjects, followed by smaller classes. These included Akira's practical combat lessons and Hayami's makeup lessons—to help Feebas undergo its glorious transformation, Maki was determined. "Even if I have to use a pound of foundation, I'll make Feebas beautiful."

Although the "pound of foundation" description—Milotic's evolution path was long and arduous.

When the trainers weren't around, Gardevoir would take on the role of the eldest sister, teaching the younger Pokémon some common knowledge.

Unlike the chaotic scene a month ago, the Pokémon were now well-behaved in class, much to the trainers' amazement.

Akira once asked Gardevoir how she managed this, and Gardevoir said it was because everyone had grown up and become more sensible, just like Pancham.

Akira believed her, smiling and stroking Gardevoir's long hair, praising her for teaching them well. But he didn't know the effort Gardevoir had put in behind the scenes.

After witnessing Akira's exhaustion, she had resolved to share her master's burdens.

Over the past month, she had privately approached the other Pokémon countless times, scolding when necessary, guiding when appropriate, and not hesitating to discipline when needed.

The incident with Serperior backing down and Altaria being blown away was somewhat of a happy accident, making Gardevoir realize that一 blindly being gentle with mischievous children wasn't the answer.

Even if it affected her image as the eldest sister, she had to keep them in line. To this end, she specifically held meetings with Darkrai and Pangoro, dividing responsibilities and zones.

It was from this moment that the Pokémon's perception of Gardevoir shifted from "elder sister" to "big boss," further solidifying her title as the Psychic Queen.

If Akira and the other trainers played the role of the kind father, then Gardevoir and her two subordinates played the role of the "strict mother." This balance of looseness and tightness ensured the children grew up healthy and didn't stray off course.

Akira had to admit that this was the most reasonable way to raise them, far better than him stumbling through it alone. The proof was his Serperior.

Despite having the Contrary ability and a tsundere personality, it never strayed off course. Every day, it would reluctantly complete its training, its words saying one thing but its actions another. It also became the first of the new batch of Pokémon to evolve.

While this "first" was largely due to the low evolution level of starter Pokémon, evolution was still evolution.

The Pokémon didn't know their own evolution levels, so Serperior's evolution served as a great stimulus, encouraging everyone to train harder and grow faster. It also stimulated the nerves of certain people who had been watching closely.

While Pancham evolving into Pangoro could be written off as a coincidence or imitation of Panda's multi-core transformation, Serperior evolving into Servine solidly confirmed the fact that Pokémon could grow and transform.

One week after Serperior's evolution, the Jujutsu Alliance could no longer hold back and sent envoys to Tokyo Jujutsu High.
