Chapter 127 - Challenge the Fate part3

Pov Hermione,

Harry tried to plead for Sirius's innocence, but Dumbledore said he couldn't do anything and began speaking enigmatically, hinting at using the Time-Turner for more than one life.

It was good that he told me to use it because I had very little time left to go back far enough — back to the moment of Buckbeak's sentencing.

I took Harry with me for a little time travel, and he was very confused, not seeming to understand the danger if we were discovered.

Author: Let's move forward in time.

Getting Buckbeak out was very easy since we had dead rats to lure him, but the hardest part was holding him while Hagrid called him.

Fortunately, Evelyn's plan was very solid, and I managed to keep everything on track.

There had been a lot of action near the Whomping Willow, starting with us and Sirius. Then it was Professor Lupin's turn, and finally Professor Snape, who had become suspicious.

"We just have to wait."

As we waited, something unnatural happened.

"Are you sure we can't eat before we go out?"

"No. Professor Snape headed for the Whomping Willow, probably after seeing the Marauder's Map. And Professor Lupin wouldn't have let him wander off carelessly, so that means they must have found Peter, and they're probably at the Shrieking Shack. The problem is that it's a full moon tonight, and Professor Lupin hasn't taken his potion, so he's going to turn into a dangerous werewolf. That's the perfect chance for Peter to escape, and that's where we come in — we're going to stop him from getting away."

I knew Evelyn had pieced together the story of Sirius using as many clues as possible. With a map showing Professor Snape's location and the Wolfsbane Potion left untouched, she had figured out what was happening and predicted the scenario that was about to unfold.

Suddenly, Evelyn turned her head toward us, waved goodbye, and disappeared into the Forbidden Forest.

"Why did Evelyn seem to know we were here?"

"It's because she can sense when a Time Turner is nearby. I couldn't keep the secret from her for more than an hour. She just waited before confronting me, so she must have known I had one as soon as I sat next to her."

Evelyn was terrifying because, in addition to knowing when a Time Turner was near, she could tell how many times it had been used, whether it had been activated recently, or even how much total time I had traveled back.

According to her, I'm almost three months older than I should be.

Author: Let's move forward in time again.

We were near the lake because Harry believed that, before fainting, he had seen his father, which shouldn't have been possible — but he insisted.

We waited, and when the Dementor was about to deliver the Kiss to Sirius, Harry moved and managed to cast a corporeal Patronus.

He managed to save Sirius, but unfortunately, there were too many Dementors for one corporeal Patronus to handle. I decided to support him, but even two corporeal Patronuses couldn't do anything.

At that moment, a huge white light made a spectacular entrance and drove away all the Dementors.

I immediately recognized Marie's true Patronus, so she must not have been far away.

All the Dementors fled from this aura of positive energy. After they left, Marie's Patronus disappeared directly, and ours vanished shortly after.

Author: Let's move forward one last time.

We had managed to free Sirius from the Astronomy Tower thanks to Buckbeak, but there was still no news of Evelyn, and Marie had gone off on a rat hunt.

When we returned to our beds after this trip, the Minister, Professor Snape, and Dumbledore arrived, complaining that Sirius had escaped. Professor Snape was sighing in frustration.

That's when we heard a loud crash and explosion coming from the corridor.
