"What did you want to give Professor Lupin?"
"I'll explain it to you later when we're alone."
"It's not even a love letter."
It's funny to see my girlfriend get jealous over something that isn't true.
"Don't worry, you're the only one who has a place in my heart."
At the same time I said those words, I caressed Mary's cheek.
The evening before Hermione arrived, I explained the whole situation to Mary, who became very motivated to look for that rat, even though it will be hard since we're not sure he's still at the castle.
When I asked Sirius what Peter looked like, he told me I would recognize him immediately — his face is like that of a rat.
The first thing to do is to manage to obtain the Marauder's Map, but try to do so in a natural way that doesn't look like theft.
Normally, that would be Professor Lupin's role, but since he hasn't had the opportunity yet, it would be a shame.
Fortunately, the opportunity presented itself very early because Hermione came in angry after learning that Harry was going to Hogsmeade despite the threat of Black.
All we have to do is make sure it's discovered, and even if there are too many random variables, it could be that Professor Lupin gets the map.
Random guessing only works if the person involved in this plan reacts the right way.
But don't think about it too much — it's happening in a few days.
"What if we go help Hagrid with his upcoming trial?"
"Good idea, it'll take my mind off things. I'm sick of those two idiots who are reckless."
"Weren't you the one who was worried about Ron when you heard what happened this morning in the third-year boys' room in Gryffindor Tower?"
Mary looked at her with a taunting expression.
"It's true that I was a little worried, but apparently it wasn't worth it since they decided to play hero while Black is near the castle, and few can enter and leave without being spotted."
When we arrived at Hagrid's, he seemed stressed about the upcoming trial, but he still asked for news about my brother after everything that had happened.
"Apart from a very powerful tantrum from Grandma, he's fine, but he had to go to the infirmary. It's now forbidden to go to Hogsmeade, but that's a good thing because of this Black threat."
"You're absolutely right. If I ever see him, I promise it won't be pretty."
He would probably use his half-giant strength to make a mess of him, but Sirius is careful — unless Peter is so close to him.
"I still feel sorry for my little brother. The caretaker of the common room was completely incompetent; he only changed the password, and Neville's memory isn't perfect — he probably needed a Remembrall. Unfortunately, he must have lost it, and that piece of paper landed in Black's hands. He got a lot of punishments, but fortunately, nothing happened, and that surprises me."
"How's Evelyn? You said you wished there had been a murder?"
Hagrid gave me a suspicious look.
I had to keep up a facade, showing that I despised Sirius even though I knew the truth — but I had to be careful.
"No, but I must remind you that he didn't hesitate to kill a dozen Muggles in the street, so why didn't he kill Ron, then the other students in the dormitory, and escape afterward as he did so well?"
My theory was solid and allowed some doubt about Sirius' intentions without revealing my true opinion.
"I'm not trying to understand — Black is a fool, and those people are very unpredictable."
