Chapter 117 - The fate of the world

Pov General,

"It only took a story of brooms and rats to weaken this friendship to the point where a simple disagreement could turn them from a trio of best friends into mere acquaintances forever."

The mysterious figure stood in an entirely white room, where the sound of gears turning and a ticking clock echoed.

On the ground lay pawns and other chess pieces, each marked with a specific date and time.

"Will I wait all this time and leave her alone, or will I choose to reveal myself to her?"

The mysterious figure glanced at the nearest date inscribed before them.

"What will be your choice when the moment of decision arrives?"

A screen appeared, displaying a scene that was supposed to unfold if everything went according to plan.

"Diablora-sama, the roses have all gathered at your call."

"Perfect. I can't wait to see which of these roses will become an important piece."

She looked toward a spot where a multicolour rose was being planted on the stage.

"What colour will you take?"

After shifting her gaze away, she left the image she had been fixated on, just as Evelyn collided with a green light.

Pov Evelyn,

"Hello everyone, I hope you all had a great vacation. Today will be a group study session. Daphne, Penelope, Hermione, Marie... you will each choose a partner to help during this class."

I selected the smartest students to assist those whose grades were lower than theirs.

As expected, Daphne chose her little sister, Astoria, as her study partner.

"I'll be your partner, sister."

Hermione decided to pair up with Colin Creevey, while Marie chose Luna Lovegood.

Once everyone had their partner, only Ginny was left alone.

"Ginny, you'll be with me."

She looked a bit disappointed because she had wanted to be with a certain boy with a scar, but he wasn't in class.

"Don't make that face. It's not that he doesn't want to be with you, it's just that he doesn't come to class."

"Yes, but he's just having fun. He doesn't pay attention to his studies."

"Some people aren't made for theory but excel in practice."

"Yes, but You-Know-Who is still alive, and he wants to kill Harry. So why doesn't he come to learn some kind of defense or something that would help him survive?"

"I don't know if it's because of your brother or if he's just too careless to prepare for the future."

It's true that I find Harry's attitude far too relaxed. He only studies at the last minute and then complains about having too much work.

That's what Hermione told me, but I've also noticed that I don't see him much in the library, and Neville has already mentioned that he doesn't study in the common room either.

Also, my brother often attends the tutoring sessions, but he also wants to try managing on his own, so I don't force him.

"Is there anything you don't understand in any subject?"

"Yes, in History. I took notes, but I know I missed some important details."

She showed me her notes, and I was quite shocked—how could a student take so many notes in Professor Binns' class?

"Your notes are very neat, and I understand why you're asking for my help. Some details are missing, but you don't have to feel embarrassed—you might be one of the top twenty students when it comes to note-taking in Binns' class."

The handwriting was tidy, and the keywords were well-chosen, avoiding any confusion. However, the real challenge of this class is to take notes without losing focus on what is being said.

She had lost interest for a few minutes, which made her notes incomplete.

I spent over half an hour explaining what was missing, and I also helped her expand and deepen her notes.
