Chapter 218 - Chapter 216: Face Off

In Aleph's eyes, this fight was a battle of wits. The authorities he and the Cocoon held were not completely known to the other. Energy restraints no longer mattered for the two of them.

[Cursed Energy (Converted)].

That was how his energy panel looked after becoming a full-time Spirit, and in turn, a bonafide complex information life—the so-called Transcendent Grade on the Sanctum's power system.

The energy capacity of beings known as "gods" was infinite. With an even ground, their differences were only the output and the authorities they held.

At the very least, it was the case for Aleph and the Cocoon. Their nature lied in their output and authorities.

It was safe to say the Fourteenth Herrscher lagged behind Aleph in terms of both.

"Hm…"

Aleph deactivated his domain. His Event Containment overrode the damage on the Moon's surface. Its appearance was reverted to the prairie at the Reverse Side, to which Albion saw moments before its death.

This time, the entirety of the Moon was converted to his 'event'. Only the occasional black slits emitted arcs of purple light.

It gave Aleph an advantage when it came to sensing pre-emptive disruptions as well as the texture's disposition to reject changes.

The world of Fate was made up of "textures". The 'texture' of the physical world tends to reject the manipulation of mysteries (i.e., supernatural) while the 'texture' of the reverse side also rejects changes due to its tendency to retain its current state (self-preservation).

Naturally, the reverse side was the better option despite the similarities.

Millions of thoughts passed by Aleph's mind. His thoughts kept replaying to the fourteenth's look after she was held down by [Infinite Void] and was struck by [Hollow Purple — Enhanced] the second time.

'Her parallel world..!'

Aleph's eyes widened upon the new realization. His reactions came swiftly.

'[Wandering]..!'

He first took out [Yamato] from his [Seven Swords] slot.

Unhesitantly, he drew its sharp blade towards his front.

Crack-!

Shatter-!

Zoom-!

A huge crack spanning fifty meters appeared. The other side showed a hint of dark blue.

His [Deathly Intuition] acted behind his neck and caused some pricking senses, but it was far less noticeable than before. The dim blue glow came out of the crack. It was of the same light as the one in the fourteenth herrscher's.

Aleph then took the entire "texture" he had laid out already. The prairie on the Moon's surface slowly disappeared to his shadow. Strangely, his shadow showed a vague green plane made of translucent glass.

Hum.

The moment he stepped inside, he was greeted by a discordant sight. His footing was lost, though it did not matter with his flight capability.

Simultaneously…

Zoom-!

The pricking sensation on the back of his neck grew stronger. It was as if the entire world had treated him as its greatest enemy. The spherical bubbles, each holding an image of a discarded possibility, were far too many to count.

Aside from them, there were random items floating around such as broken cars, bent highway signs, a complete fifteen-storey building, and so on. It was a hodgepodge of randomness scattered around.

Aleph's eyes were immediately attracted by the entities made up of dark blue light. They were ninety percent similar to the monsters Bronya faced in the Cyberangel animation.

'There's no time to waste.'

Tap.

Tap.

Tap.

The green prairie began reappearing beneath his feet. It alleviated the 'imaginary' pressure Aleph felt from the Sea of Quanta. It wasn't only that.

Hum.

He directly unleashed his True Form. Everything that had seen him—the creatures of this dimension—died one after another. It might not be a deadly attack to the same level, but for those below him, it was a fatal blow.

'I am glowing..?'

Aleph raised his eyebrows as he let Metatron continue its analysis.

{Result. Staying in your True Form passively enhances everything with the Infinity concept All authorities will be raised to another level in this state…}

The preliminary result came out.

{...focusing its enhancement capability can bring further enhancements to an authority.}

'I see. It's viable.' He thought. 'Then, I'll use this one first.'

Previously, he had three true forms corresponding to Albion, Nihility, and the Embryonic Power System. With the [Blank Pathway]'s assistance, it increased to four.

As to which one it was…

Hum.

Aleph appeared as a figure made of indescribable light. Only his outline remained somewhat human-like. His [Infinity] authority started working to his [Wandering] ability.

In one step, he arrived in front of an endless pure white slate. The images beyond it showed the fourteenth herrscher's figure amping up her full-blown honkai energy blast.

If he did not notice this, he would have been struck by its full force, consequently affecting Earth behind him. The attack was launched from another parallel world and was planned to be sent to the real world.

It was a desperate attack sent through two worlds.

Since Aleph noticed…

"I got you."

Ripple.

The pure white slate rippled. It allowed his figure to easily pass through. His surroundings changed to the previous black void. The only difference was the overwhelming amount of honkai energy gathered by the fourteenth herrscher's grasp.

'The attack that wiped out Earth…'

"Die."

Her cold voice resounded. Nobody was able to hear it except for Aleph. His response was to raise his right hand.

The moment her gaze landed upon his body, she froze. The honkai energy around her rampaged. All sorts of the previous herrschers' authorities were added to its mix. The void manipulation used to send it down to Earth, the electromagnetic manipulation to render all mechanical weapons useless, the coating of ideal fluid…

It was an attack that embodied fourteen different authorities. Its weight was unimaginable.

Yet, the person who launched the attack froze.

The reason was revealed soon after.

Click.

An intangible barrier emerged out of thin air and blocked the attack. The barrier spanned more than one hundred thousand kilometers, swallowing every bit of energy into it. The authorities imbued upon it fell into the infinite barrier composed by Aleph. Their movements became extremely sluggish until they no longer moved.

Not everything was blocked, however.

Small specks of white particles seeped through the barrier. They were the 'time' authority controlled by her.

Unfortunately…

'Blocked…'

…a pure white light caught them all.

Amidst the extremely strong ongoing attack, the fourteenth met Aleph's gaze.

"It's time to come out. Your proxy won't be able to handle me."

The air vacuum did not prevent his words from being transmitted. She lost consciousness… before waking up as a completely different being.

Her golden pupils glowed intensely at this time, giving off an aura of detachment towards the world.

When the honkai energy died down, Aleph's figure reverted to normal. He wore a smile as he adjusted the tie on his Fire MOTH overcoat.

"Come."

For the nth time, he faced off against his hater since day one.
