In the original story, Shikamaru used a similar approach to deal with Hidan.
The seemingly invincible Hidan, who started with such flair, ended up with his body blown to pieces, reduced to just a head. He was then sealed and buried underground, left to suffer until he finally died.
Kazuki couldn't help but think that Yugito Nii, the Two-Tails Jinchūriki, had an even more humiliating death.
Of course, Asuma's death was no better. But then again, Asuma's strength… well, it wasn't much to begin with.
He couldn't even master his clan's secret techniques. How much could you really expect from him? He was essentially a walking target.
As for Yugito, her death was truly pitiful. Misleading intelligence set her up for failure, leading to her untimely and unclear demise.
'Why does the Elder know more detailed information than us?'
Itachi glanced at Shisui, who could only give a wry smile and shrug.
'Don't ask me. I don't know either. The Elder must have conducted an investigation before we even left, and we just weren't aware of it.'
Both Shisui and Itachi, in their mental acrobatics, only grew more impressed with Kazuki.
---
"Impossible! Absolutely impossible!"
The cult's elder was in denial. The dispatched members had been wiped out, the cult's base exposed, and now the enemy was attacking directly.
Amidst the ongoing purge, the elder refused to accept the reports, stubbornly insisting, "This can't be happening. Konoha's ninjas can't possibly be this strong!"
---
The ominous sound of approaching footsteps echoed through the base. Slowly, the shadows of two figures stretched into view, accompanied by the strong stench of blood. Itachi and Shisui had successfully infiltrated the Jashin cult's headquarters.
The guards outside had been no match. No matter how many of them there were, they were simply lambs to the slaughter.
As the two entered the base, the elder shrank back before roaring in anger:
"Who sent you?! You blasphemers!"
"Lord Jashin will bring divine retribution upon you!"
In their frenzied state, the two elders' skin began to change, large portions of their bodies turning black-and-white—a far greater transformation than the partial changes seen in lesser cultists.
Standing to the side, watching all of this with his scythe in hand, was a young Hidan.
"Hehehe…"
Compared to the deranged elders, Hidan's bloodthirsty gaze and calm demeanor caught Shisui's attention.
"You're Hidan?" Shisui asked.
"Oh? You've heard of me?" Hidan replied with an exaggerated grin. "Hahaha… Wonderful!"
He laughed loudly, throwing his head back in a dramatic display of arrogance, leaving Shisui and Itachi slightly baffled.
'We thought we'd found a normal one. Turns out he's just as crazy.'
"Die, you blasphemers!" the two elders screamed, charging at Shisui.
Due to their lack of proper ninjutsu training and the cult's unique doctrine and rituals, most Jashin cultists were poor at ninjutsu.
Instead, they relied on taijutsu, unique weapons, and their eerie rituals to overwhelm their enemies.
For those unfamiliar with their methods, the cult could be a deadly opponent—a lesson Yugito Nii had learned the hard way.
"You should feel honored to die by my hands, kid!"
Carrying his scythe, Hidan charged at Itachi, chattering incessantly with his trademark talkative nature.
Unlike the other cultists, Hidan's modifications were near perfect. He could also maintain emotional control, unlike the two elders who were little more than rampaging beasts being toyed with by Shisui.
As Itachi's katana blocked Hidan's scythe, he noted Hidan's surprising strength and swiftly retreated. Hidan laughed maniacally and gave chase.
Activating his Sharingan, Itachi observed the terrain and formulated a strategy while dodging Hidan's relentless pursuit.
Hidan grew increasingly frustrated as he found himself unable to land a hit.
"Damn it, you slippery little brat! Stop running!" he yelled, furious at Itachi's evasive tactics.
Chasing Itachi into a narrow passage, Hidan charged without hesitation.
To his dismay, Itachi suddenly stopped running and turned to counterattack.
"Oh? Finally!" Hidan exclaimed, thrilled that Itachi had stopped evading. But when he raised his weapon to strike, he realized too late that he had fallen into a trap.
The narrow corridor restricted the movement of his large scythe, limiting his attacks.
The scythe scraped uselessly against the stone walls, leaving deep grooves but failing to reach its target.
Itachi seized the opportunity, slashing upward with his katana.
Hidan screamed in pain as his right arm, still holding the scythe, fell to the ground.
The cult's modifications made its members difficult to kill, but it didn't render them immune to pain or injury.
"You bastard! That hurts!" Hidan screamed. "You've really pissed me off now!"
Despite his immortality and eerie rituals, Hidan—still a young recruit—was no match for Itachi's precision and skill.
By baiting Hidan into a narrow space that restricted his movements, Itachi had quickly gained the upper hand.
Hidan lunged at Itachi with his remaining hand, but under the Sharingan's gaze, his attack was easy to predict and dodge.
Moments later, blood sprayed as Itachi severed Hidan's other arm.
Amid Hidan's screams, Itachi's katana pierced his throat, slicing through his spine in a fluid arc.
Hidan's head flew into the air, his body collapsing to the ground.
"Is it over?" Shisui asked, entering the corridor with a sealing scroll in hand.
Looking at Hidan's severed, but still animated, head, Itachi replied, "The Elder's intelligence was accurate. These guys are nearly impossible to kill—but they're as dumb as rocks."
"You brat! How dare you call Lord Hidan an idiot?!" Hidan's head bellowed, still full of energy despite its predicament.
Itachi's words clearly struck a nerve, leaving Hidan even more enraged.
