Chapter 158 - Chapter 156 - Confrontation with the Headmaster 03.

[Chapter Size: 2300 Words.]

Third Person POV

England.

...

...

"What are these things...?" Dumbledore couldn't help but feel stunned by what he was witnessing. Before him, strange shadows emerged from Snape's very own shadow. He had never seen anything like it. They were like dark ghosts, yet at the same time, they seemed tangible.

'This is the army of darkness...' His eyes widened as he paid attention to the words Snape had just spoken.

This energy... it's the same I felt when I tried to enter his mind. An abyss of shadows and darkness... But not just that, it's an energy of death, far more intense than anything I had ever felt before. Even Voldemort couldn't produce something like this,' Dumbledore murmured internally, still incredulous.

"What have you become, Snape?" he asked, as all the shadows now aligned themselves around and behind Snape.

"It doesn't matter what I say; you would never understand. After all, you're bound to a limited concept, believing that only this world exists. But you don't understand... There are beings beyond the stars surrounding this system. And there are threats far worse than Voldemort, whom you know." Snape replied calmly, while Dumbledore stood there, trying to absorb his words.

Dumbledore hesitated. He didn't know what to do. He was cornered in that moment. He couldn't use Apparition, and Snape had proven to be fast and strong enough to fight beyond what magic alone could achieve against Dumbledore's. Now, on top of all that, he had those shadowy soldiers. But before he could say anything, Snape acted as if he had read Dumbledore's internal conflict.

"It doesn't matter what you try to tell me or negotiate with me. There's no way back, Dumbledore. And even if you're not the only one who knows my identity, and even if you've told someone, I've decided it doesn't matter now. You used that girl... just like the Prince family used Snape's mother. I've decided I'm going to end you." Snape declared, his voice filled with anger.

In the next moment, he vanished into a shadowy teleportation, reappearing quickly beside Dumbledore. The latter noticed and quickly reacted by casting a spell against the bolt Snape unleashed on him again. Both wizards fired spells from their wands, and the courtyard of the house exploded with a small burst of light fragments.

The explosion momentarily blinded Dumbledore, but soon he noticed the shadows attacking with swords. He quickly moved his wand, striking down the first three knights, which exploded into masses of smoke. However, they didn't completely disappear. The smoke began to gather again, reforming the defeated knight.

"They're regenerating..." Dumbledore muttered, shocked by what he was seeing.

He barely had time to react as shadowy arrows began flying toward him. He conjured a shield to defend himself, only to be hit shortly after by fireballs conjured by other shadows wielding staffs and launching magic in his direction. Dumbledore had to keep the shield active as the continuous attacks pushed his magic to its limits, leaving him visibly drained.

Focusing, Dumbledore realized he was at a disadvantage. He waited for a brief pause in the onslaught before casting a distraction spell, much like Snape often did, using an enhanced Lumos. A massive light emanated from his wand, illuminating the entire area, almost like a blinding flare.

Even Snape, observing from atop the house, had to avert his gaze for a moment. He saw Dumbledore running toward an opening by the coast.

"Why is he planning to do this?" Dumbledore asked himself as he ran with difficulty. His leg was still bleeding after being stabbed, but he wasn't about to give up.

He approached the coast and looked at the sea before aiming his wand at the incoming arrows. With a downward motion, he raised a wall of stone from the ground, shielding himself from the attacks.

Immediately after, the sea began to stir as the headmaster started making movements with his wand. The water rose rapidly, forming a gigantic ball of water that kept growing larger and larger. Snape's house stood a hundred meters from the water, but that wasn't enough to prevent the aquatic sphere from continuing to expand, covering the entire surrounding area, including the house and the grounds.

Snape was impressed but quickly grabbed his wand and cast a spell that turned his magic into thunder. The electricity struck the immense sphere of water floating in the air before Dumbledore could finish the spell, creating a massive explosion of sound and sparks. The impact was so intense that Dumbledore began to lose control of his spell but steadied himself behind the stone walls he had created earlier against the shadow soldiers.

Snape, observing everything, seemed impressed by the unexpected move. He realized the risk of maintaining control over that much electrified water. When Dumbledore, with a firm downward motion, released the spell, the water sphere exploded in all directions. Giant electrified droplets began to rain over the area.

Snape had to admire Dumbledore's move and quickly disappeared, avoiding the impact, but the house suffered significant damage, with the roof destroyed by the explosion. His shadow soldiers were also caught in it. All of them were reduced to scattered shadows as Dumbledore completed the wall and created a cocoon.

Snape reappeared amidst the debris, observing the chaos. In the distance, he saw Dumbledore running back to the other side of the field.

Dumbledore was in a very difficult situation. He couldn't handle Snape's strength and defend himself from the shadow soldiers at the same time. Seeing this, Dumbledore moved toward the forest.

Snape teleported to follow him. As soon as he caught up, he cast a spell, but Dumbledore quickly countered, turning around. Snape, however, kept advancing calmly as they exchanged attacks, walking through the forest, while the headmaster seemed to be in trouble. This continued until Dumbledore stopped running, already exhausted.

"Not being able to teleport is a significant disadvantage," Snape remarked, looking at Dumbledore.

Dumbledore, panting, stared at him in silence.

"Let's continue," Snape said. Quickly, both began launching spells at each other in the middle of the pine forest.

Meanwhile, in the village near Snape's house, the residents began hearing strange explosions and witnessed a display of lights coming from the distant cliff. Many wondered what was happening. They had seen bizarre phenomena before, like unusual storms, but this was different. Red, white, and blue explosions mixed with electricity, creating a spectacle in the sky.

The battle continued, with Dumbledore and Snape exchanging fierce attacks in the middle of the forest.

"Well, this has gotten interesting, but you don't have the stamina to keep going," Snape taunted in a calm tone. He watched Dumbledore, who was beginning to show signs of fatigue.

Behind Snape, the soldiers had completed their regeneration from earlier, returning to the battle fully restored. Dumbledore took a step back, quickly beginning to wave his wand. The entire ground started to tremble, involving the surrounding trees.

"What spell is this?" Snape murmured, intrigued, as he watched the ground begin to take shape. Stone monsters, like golems, started to emerge around Dumbledore. He created at least ten of them, each about three meters tall, all made of solid rock.

"Interesting," Snape said, raising his hands and commanding his soldiers. "Advance!" He gave the order, and immediately all the shadow knights began to charge. Shadow mages and archers prepared to attack from a distance. The golems proved to be fast, advancing toward the shadow soldiers.

The battle between the creatures began. The two forces collided, with the golems using their massive bodies to crush the knights. Despite their immense strength, the shadow knights clung to the golems, attacking with their swords, breaking their rocks, and removing arms and legs, but without finding any core to destroy them completely.

The fight was so intense that the entire area trembled. Trees were knocked down, and the ground began to crack from the impact of the blows between the golems and the shadow soldiers. Defeated knights turned into smoke before reforming, while the golems continued advancing, even damaged. Some could no longer stand and dragged themselves across the ground without legs.

Snape watched the battle with interest but soon turned his gaze back to Dumbledore. He noticed the headmaster preparing a new spell.

"He did this to buy time..." Snape murmured, watching as Dumbledore held his wand firmly, ready to unleash the next attack amidst the chaos.

"If he plans to use that... Very well, let's see which of us is more powerful." Snape also prepared himself, already anticipating Dumbledore's next move.

Dumbledore raised his wand, pointing it forward. "Expecto Patronum!" he exclaimed, as a radiant, brilliant phoenix surged forward across the battlefield, its light illuminating everything around it.

Snape did not lag behind. He raised his wand and cast the same spell. "Expecto Patronum!" A blinding white light exploded from his wand, but the form that emerged was something no one could have imagined, as had been rumored some months ago.

Dumbledore watched in disbelief as a light even brighter than that of his own phoenix appeared. On the other side of the battlefield, a colossal figure began to take shape. "What is this?" Dumbledore murmured, unable to believe what he was seeing. Snape, a wizard who seemed so steeped in darkness, was casting a spell like the Patronus. And the form it took was unimaginable.

A colossal angel emerged from Snape's spell, resplendent and surrounded by a divine aura. It bent its knees, opened its majestic wings, and held a gleaming spear, ready to advance.

Dumbledore's phoenix continued flying, majestic, toward the center of the battlefield. Snape's angel moved next, astonishingly faster than the mythical creature.

The two figures met in the middle of the battlefield, where the shadow soldiers and the golems were clashing. A massive explosion erupted from the impact, illuminating the entire area as everything around was destroyed. The phoenix and the angel engaged, but the angel's divine nature gave it significantly greater strength. It quickly gained the upper hand over the phoenix.

The brightness intensified, flooding the entire area with light, as the phoenix was destroyed. Dumbledore barely had time to react when, in the next moment, the entire area exploded. The entire forest was vaporized, and the brilliance of the explosion was so intense that it resembled a sun rising in the darkness of the night.

The nearby town was completely illuminated by the explosion. The nearby Muggles watched in terror, their hearts gripped by fear as they witnessed the spectacular display of lights in the sky. Many wondered what could be happening.

When the chaos subsided, Snape stood, walking among the shadows, which were beginning to regenerate after being destroyed. The golems, on the other hand, left no trace of their existence. The ground around them was completely devastated. Not far away, Dumbledore lay on the ground, his face bleeding. His wand had fallen several meters away, and he was clearly defeated.

"That was a good fight, but it's time to end this, Dumbledore," Snape said, approaching slowly.

"Please... I cannot die, Snape. We can resolve this another way. I must stay alive for the sake of this world!" Dumbledore pleaded, his words laden with desperation and fear as he watched Snape draw closer.

"Your methods are not something I will forgive or forget, Dumbledore. Don't worry. I'll deal with Voldemort soon. So... goodbye." Snape spoke coldly, raising his wand for the final blow.

But before he could complete the movement, the space beside Snape distorted. Suddenly, a fiery red phoenix appeared, engulfed in flames. It was none other than Fawkes, who had sensed his master was in danger and had come to save him.

Snape noticed the phoenix approaching him. It surged forward with its blazing flames, and he quickly teleported several meters back. Fawkes, without hesitation, advanced toward Dumbledore, seeking to rescue him. After all, the phoenix could Apparate.

As Fawkes tried to reach her fallen master, she was struck by a lightning bolt conjured by Snape. The phoenix cried out in pain, thrown several meters away. Even so, despite her suffering, she rose with a weak yet determined sound.

"Fawkes..." Snape murmured, surprised by the phoenix's unwavering loyalty to her companion.

"She is quite a loyal creature," Snape commented as he approached again. Fawkes struggled to rise despite her injuries, and Snape positioned himself between her and Dumbledore.

The bird then spread her wings. Even with electricity still coursing through her body, the phoenix began to flap her wings and stared at Snape with fury.

She had nothing personal against Snape, but she would never allow Dumbledore to die. Quickly, she charged at him, her wings glowing with flames.

This time, however, Snape did not hesitate. Before Fawkes could complete her attack, he drew a sword forged from goblin metal. With a precise movement, he drove the blade through the phoenix's body, piercing her chest. He withdrew the sword as magical blood poured out.

"You don't seem too concerned," Snape remarked, looking at Dumbledore, who watched the scene in silence. The headmaster seemed more preoccupied with his own survival than with Fawkes' fate.

"She will be reborn," Dumbledore responded weakly.

"I see. But you won't," Snape retorted.

He raised his bare hand, setting his wand aside, as he began to levitate slightly. Snape used his monarchical authority, pulling Dumbledore closer to him. The headmaster, realizing his impending death, looked around desperately, searching for a way out.

Snape prepared to drive his sword into Dumbledore. However, before he could strike the final blow, the ring Snape was wearing began to glow intensely. The light enveloped Dumbledore, distorting his body.

Snape saw the headmaster being drawn into the light and tried to act quickly, moving to drive the sword into his heart, but Dumbledore vanished before the blade could reach him. The strike hit only empty air.

Snape looked at his hand, stunned. "What was that?" he murmured. Dumbledore had simply disappeared into the light of the ring, leaving Snape alone amid all the destruction.
