Chapter 33 - The First Ascender

Axis looked on in the distance with a smile, he had completed yet another trial, yet he wondered what exactly it was a test of, perhaps it wasn't something he was supposed to think of, something he was supposed to know internally. Even with the enigma of the clause of the trial he remained unbothered.

Axis tracked forward through the forest scape, back on the trail that he was already walking on which seemed to shift from where it was going previously, assuming that if he had continued walking without beating the trial he would have been sent off to the wrong direction making his journey only all the more arduous, now he started to slow down as he felt the end of the trail coming. He started to focus his breathing and held his resolve strong, he had learned to always be heavy in any situation, and he knew that the last trial must be the hardest of them all. Dealing with that shake was already quite a pain in the butt.

Axis kept his hands raised and stared off at the end of the path that he'd finally reached. The end of the forest was there as well with all remaining was a grassy expanse. This plain was decorated in beautiful flowers of all colorful varieties making a verdant rainbow that perpetuated on everywhere, centering around forming a giant circle smack dab within its middle. The trees seemed pushed back from this area as if there was something that prevented them growing there in a circular pattern themselves.

Axis regarded the beautiful scenery with both confusion and suspicion, contrary to all the other places of trial, there was no imminent danger or visible one to him. This scenery was beautiful, one an artist could only dream of painting with brush. And there was supposed to be some sort of trial, there seemed to be ill veracity to a notion like that. And as Axis looked he began to walk to the center drawn in by the seemingly wonderful scene that was presented forth, it seemed so beautiful, he couldn't resist himself.

Axis sat within the middle and looked around him feeling content with his place there, he felt his worries start to vanish within the idyllic plain, drifting off into a form of meditation to relax and further recover himself. Spiritual energy flowing through him seemed to soothe the bit of aching pain that still remained from his previous battle and felt his body healing up the final wounds.

Externally the flowers that surrounded him became flipping and shaking, until they completely popped off of the ground spinning around in a circle wildly drifting off as if being picked by a tornado. Unfortunately the notion became no mere simile with the flowers actually forming into a rainbow tornado that flourished with blooming vibrant energy generated from them all

Axis opened his eyes and stood up with fervor and looked at the now seeming gloomier setting as the sun had finally set. Axis suddenly ran towards the tornado to try and exit it, but despite his own power this strange tornado was stronger and it pushed him back into the center with a small scratch. This is when the ground below had cracked open and dropped him down to a place far below. He had fallen down into a vast expanse as he was reaching terminal velocity. Looking down, something was coming up from the hole, it was Tobias! He filled the entire hole and his mouth was wide open ready to swallow Axis whole which was quite concerning.

Axis fell down into the mouth of Tobias, and instead of being put through a digestive system like you might think, it appeared that he had travelled into some sort of otherworldly dimension which certainly was not an expected possible result, but it was happening so it would have to simply be accepted as happening. He was now standing in what seemed to be some sort of cosmic plane

"You know, the next test was supposed to show you to sometimes have caution even in the most peaceful of times, but you kinda failed pretty badly, but worry not there shall be another test to take its place." The voice of Tobias once more appeared to his ears, and yet again he could not see him, but he was literally inside him so that did make sense. But that made him wonder, why is there a whole endless world inside of him?

Axis started to walk forwards throughout the endless expanse going into the cosmic depths. A figure within the distance began to make its appearance, it was quite the large being… and when it had seemed to come into full formation it seemed simply like a smaller Tobias, things were definitely getting weird.

There were no words conversed between the small dogon and the King, the tiny Tobias, T.T for short, would suddenly charge towards him with his mouth wide open as flames suddenly shot out of his mouth with a cascading fervor. Axis raised up one of his hands and swatted to the side as bravery essence would deflect the direction of the flames going off to the side.

Axis jumps into the air above the dragon spinning around garnering a great gust of wind..? Well there was nothing there yet force still rippled through the air. His heel coming down onto the snout of the dragon snapping it directly shut. Axis would try to continue fighting against it, holding onto the dragon and reeling back his fist for another punch. The punch simply phased through the dragon as it warped away into nothingness.

Axis landed on the ground to his feet starting to look around back and forth and all across trying to relocate the dragon, he had a feeling this was not the end, which was soon proven to be truthful, an unwelcome veracity of his thoughts.

TT suddenly appeared behind him with velocity already in his movement ramming right into his back with full force pressing Axis against the ground with his face and dragging him across the ground. TT would open his mouth and chomped down on the leg of Axis tossing him across the expanse with him crashing down into the ground a distance away. Axis was getting up again wearily with his body having some trouble looking down at his leg, yet it was simply covered in a swirling orange that seemed to substitute for a sort of healing. He was ready to face down the dragon once more..

TT suddenly erupted from the ground beneath Axis, yet with his newfound awareness he shuffled off to the side as a cascading boom was heard echoing through the void from the force of TT rise. Axis jumped onto TT grabbing onto part of his underbelly as he flew upwards, he had a set idea within his mind and he was going to carry it out with swiftness. Axis climbed up with him with grace and speed as TT flew higher into the air, and when Axis had reached close enough, he suddenly launched himself upwards, coating his body in bravery yet focusing it on his fist and landing a critical blow to the chin of the dragon going right through it.

"Wait, it can't really be that easy can it?" Axis would question

When he said these swirling translucent blue dragons started to float around him and spun with a sort of dancing rhythm, the voice of Tobias then heard.

"In truth, you likely had already reached the criteria from the first or second trial, you always had the skill and strength within you, you just needed to realize it young Axis, and with this.. you have ascended. You shall be a formidable person I sense. We shall do more rudimentary training and hope the other of your friends find their own way of ascension."
