It was a deep darkness, one obvious because of the far away stars whose light barely reached there. There was nothing in the dark void, only a quiet emptiness, until a subtle ripple shook the stillness away, and a small spaceship came out of it, one looking a little battered.
The dark red color of the spaceship remained visible in door places still, and along with its uncompromised form, it made it easy to confirm that it was that same ship which had visited Earth some time ago. It stopped for a moment, as if to gather its bearings after the jump through the ocean of energy. Then it moved again, with a calm that seemed to say that the emptiness far away from the stars was its destination.
It moved slowly until suddenly, a gravity field that came out of nowhere made a jolt pass through it as it was latched onto, then pulled into an imaginary orbit.
