Jack Schneider froze slightly as Lucas dismissively passed by, before he took a shallow breath at the limit of what his injured body could endure, and turned around to follow behind. He looked at Lucas' back while thankful at the back of his mind for the latter's calm gait.
He was really in a bad shape, with his body exhausted, injured, and also broken in some places. Fortunately, the reward from the gamble he made more than a year ago pushed him above the first level of evolution, and gave him the potential to keep evolving. Fortunately, the last year had seen him climbing to the peak of the second level of evolution, and while the sudden change in gravity the last few days had made him suffer, and its sudden spike the last few minutes had almost killed him, it blessed him, and pushed him a step into the third level.
