Samuel Johnson stiffened slightly as he heard Amanda Smith call his name. Instinctively, he looked toward her, but he quickly averted his gaze, pursing his lips slightly. He set down his chopsticks. "As it happens, I also have something to say."
Amanda Smith fixed her eyes on him. "You go first."
"The wedding scheduled for half a month from now," Samuel Johnson began slowly, "let's postpone it."
At those words, everyone at the table turned their gazes in astonishment. Amanda Smith hadn't yet recovered her senses when Donald Johnson was the first to speak up. "Samuel, what nonsense are you talking about? The wedding is all set; why postpone it?"
Samuel Johnson's expression turned slightly ugly. He clenched his teeth and then said, "There are still issues that haven't been resolved. I don't want to bring them into the marriage."
Issues that haven't been resolved?
Was it about not wanting her to work?
Was he trying to pressure her into submission using the wedding?
