Samuel Johnson slowly reached out and pulled her into an embrace. Being so close, Amanda Smith could feel his wildly pounding heart. His body was radiating heat, indicating he had rushed over in a hurry.
Amanda patted his back gently, soothing his emotions.
After a while, like a tightly drawn bow, Samuel's muscles finally relaxed.
His sweat-drenched forehead rested on Amanda's shoulder as he whispered, "I called you..."
Amanda abruptly snapped back to reality, pulling out her phone from her pocket, indeed there were calls from Samuel Johnson.
Scrolling down, there were over a dozen of them.
"... you didn't answer," he said softly, pursing his lips.
Amanda checked her phone and discovered she had accidentally put it on silent mode, so she had not heard Samuel's calls. She patted his shoulder and said, "It was on silent by mistake. It wasn't intentional."
Samuel nodded and wiped the sweat from his face.
