Chapter 154 - The Coming Storm

Ghost Demon staggered through the palace passing corpses of guards he killed. And some he hadn't who quickly attacked him. He made short work shooting two and stabbing the third. He kept moving and found a secluded corner where he sank to his rear and pulled out a potion the Doc made for him. He downed it and felt his body healing as some of the shrapnel was pushed out of his body on its own as the wounds slowly closed.

He was still sore and in pain. His shoulder didn't magically put itself back in the socket; he would have to do that manually or with help. He approached one corpse, removed the belt and made a makeshift sling. He held a pistol in his good hand. And pushed on towards the entrance of the palace. He felt some invigoration from the potion. But it was working slowly. He had internal injuries as well he could feel a sharp pain in his side. His ribs could be broken as each breath felt like a strain. He crossed an open doorway and was met by ten guards all in lines of five. That had spears and shields up front. And five behind with rifles.

"Halt! You are under arrest! Throw down your weapons and surrender!" One of the men commanded. Ghost Demon became annoyed leaning against the doorway for support. He was conserving his chi to help healing, but he was going to need the cloak and his ability to get out of here.

He then poured chi into his cloak and became invisible right before their eyes. they began to panic and spread out looking around some remaining forward at the spot he spontaneously disappeared. What they didn't know was in another room. He phased through the wall and walked behind them silently out the door.

Red Demon stood at the gate below him the Hunter and Wolf along with the other two beasts were making ready to depart. He looked back at the horizon. He could see a small plume of dust kicking up in the air. The cloud became bigger and bigger. "Halt on opening the gate" he yelled down. Now there were people all with packed things and carts coming to the gate as well. No one wanted to stay here clearly and he couldn't make them. But what could be on the horizon will. He pulled out a spy glass and looked through. If he could see the head of a giant automaton coming over the horizon. He put the glass away and jumped down landing in front of the gate. "What's the issue?" The Hunter asked. "You can't leave," he told him. The Hunter glared at him. "We had a deal? Are you going to renege on your word?" He turned and saw all the people coming closer, all stopping and staring at the three demons. "I doubt you're going to stop all of them either?" He gestured with his head. Red Demon looked unphased as he kept his composure. Sun and Smiling Demon got closer to him standing on either side of him. "I won't have to stop them. The army heading this way will. You go out that gate and all of you will die. Or you help me fight the army, kill the king and you never see me again" Hunter pulled out a cigarette and walked towards the stairs. He lit the end and was now standing on the ramparts. "You can't hold us! Move! Step aside!" The people yelled at the three. The Hunter ignored them as he stared at half of automatons coming over the hill. Red Demon held up hands to calm the crowd. "Listen to me by no means am I holding you from freedom. But if you go out there you will die" one older man stepped forward pulling a wood ax from his cart. "MOVE!" he demanded, holding the ax with both hands. He had a family who were on the cart and a horse like beast pulling it. Red could see it was filled with all their possessions and livelihood packed into one little cart. His eyes were a look of desperation that he would kill anyone who stopped him from getting his family to safety. His face was bruised and his clothes stained with blood. Most of the survivors shared the same look of doing anything they could to survive against the Brigades.

From the streets came another commotion as Warlock led his Brigade to the gate. His Seers all in lines behind him as walked through the crowd. "Move peasants!" he screamed. This led to people now stopping his way on purpose. "You brigade scum are the cause of everything!" A man with a sickle jumped forward slashing at Warlock. He sidestepped the attack and gripped the man by the neck and lifted him off his feet. "Listen up sheep! I rule this city now! No one is going to protect you from the War King like I can. So be grateful" he threw the man down upon the ground. He coughed catching his breath. The Hunter stared at the coming army. "If you're going to do something then make it quick they are getting closer" Warlock stepped forward and following him was Hellhound seers. They walked up to the ramparts and saw the army. "Man the cannons and fire at will. Keep them back, two handle the automatons" the seers got to work. Approaching the turrets and cannon towers. Red Demon looked at the people left standing there in anger. "Will you fight or let the king take more from you?" The people then got to work heading to an armory and got weapons. They armed themselves with guns and walked the ramparts with the Hellhounds.

Red Demon and his companions were left alone in front of the gate. They heard explosions coming from over the wall as Hellhounds made their ranged attack on the army. "What are we supposed to do?" Sun asked. "Simple we wait till either the king shows himself, or he surrenders. He can't last forever and from what I saw the army is half of what it should be. Something seemed off seeing their state" he crossed his arms and stared up at Warlock who was shouting orders. The cannons boomed and roared as the missiles were flying. Ordinary people were bringing shells to the cannons using carts found on the wall. Some were shot at the army trying to obtain a kill. Seers then lifted rubble from the ground and then sent them flying. They were purring as much pressure on them as they could.

At this point becoming over kill. Warlock shot a blast of chi at an automaton causing it to explode. From being Red Demon and the others. Came into view Ghost Demon he was staggering towards them cradling an arm in a sling. He then slumped a knee and laid against a wall. That three approached him looking at him with concern. Red then finally noticed the tower of the palace smoking and scarred from an explosion. "I see you have been busy?" He said with a blunt tone. Ghost Demon stared up at him laying his backwards. "Yeah well…I owed a blood debt. It's been paid in full now. Seems Warlock showed? Don't let him take control of this place regardless of the deal I made. He can't be trusted" Red Demon stared at Warlock looking at him over his shoulder. "Well he will be of use. It's his Seers we also will have trouble facing in a fight.

"I'll heed your words. Now let's get you fixed up first. We'll need you for the next incursion the king throws at us" he helped Ghost Demon to his feet leading him to a medical building.
