James Black could tell just by looking that Jane Sampson was craving more than usual, but he guessed that part of that craving was probably hunger.

Almost everything cooking in the pot was what Jane liked to eat. Watching Jane devour her food, James leaned back with a smile playing on his lips, and gradually added more stuff to her bowl.
