Flat-Brim Samurai Chapter 85 - Initiation
Apollo stabbed his fork into a piece of steak, eating the delectable, juicy and extravagant cut of meat. His father and mother drove him out to a steakhouse to have one last dinner before he was sent off. ,"This is sho good," Apollo said, his mouth full. His mother smiled and said ,"I'm glad you like it." She looked off into the distance and gathered her thoughts ,"So, this is goodbye for a while." She laughed, forcing herself to try to be happy. Apollo's father felt the same way as he said ,"I'm glad you finally get to do this." It was as if they wanted to convince themselves of the decision they helped him make. Apollo looked at his parents ,"Thank you guys so much for giving me this chance to prove myself." Kenji looked at his son ,"Prove yourself to what?" ,"The world," Apollo replied, smiling at his surprised parents.
… Later that day he packed his things up and walked to the site where he was to go. He saw many others there and felt out of place for some reason. The people looked over and saw him ,"THAT'S APOLLO!!!" ,"OH WOW!!!" ,"I THOUGHT YOU WERE ALREADY A MEMBER OF THE MILITARY!!!" People rushed his location and bombarded him with praise. To him, he felt like he didn't do anything but to these people, he was a form of inspiration. A man was then heard yelling ,"AYE AYE AYE, GET INTO LINE." An older man with a lengthy beard looked at the kids. Once all of them got into line, Apollo was the only one left behind.
The man went right up to Apollo ,"We'll see just how much grit you got." He then backed away and gave a simple instruction to everyone ,"Run to the helicopter." The recruits were confused as they looked over to see that the plane they were going to board was leaving them. Apollo, unsurprised, dashed and leaped atop the plane. The instructor was surprised by the speed (How could such a young man be so fast). Apollo smirked ,"What are you guys waiting for? Flying ain't so bad." Some got angry and some just ignored him as they ran to the plane. Some of the people got left behind but most, however, got onto the plane. This was the first test of many to come.
Now on the plane, the instructor looked at Apollo, slightly annoyed but also excited at the potential of the soldier he saw inside of him. BLINK FWOOSH In less than a second the ship blipped to the location they needed to be. An area known as the training grounds, a flying circular military city that operated to protect the world. When Apollo and the recruits got out of the plane, the Earth below them looked beautiful ,"Woah." But they didn't have much time for sightseeing at the moment. They continued to follow the drill sergeant ,"In this next test we will be getting to know how strong you REALLY are." Many were excited, including Apollo (This is going to be fun).
The people entered one by one ,"ENHANCED CLASS," ,"NUCLEAR CLASS," ENHANCED CLASS," ,"ENHANCED CLASS." Apollo just observed from the back of the line. The instructor observed and thought (I guess we just have one nuclear class here, still pretty good). ,"Ok, final participant," Apollo looked around and blurted ,"OH YEAH, me." He walked up and started unleashing the aura that he had been suppressing. Space quivered and the air around him was suffocating. He made sure to limit the range at which it exuded from himself to protect others.
Each step flushed ki into the surrounding atmosphere, it was floating around him like some sort of hurricane of power, yet it was calm and composed. BWOOMF BWOOMF BWOOMF Apollo entered the white boxed room, at that moment, the alarm went off ,"WARNING SUB-COSMIC LEVEL ENTITY HAS ENTERED THE BUILDING." Apollo looked around confused and chuckled to see many automatic turrets peeking out from the walls, facing his direction. He opened his arms, smirking ,"What a warm welcome."
