When I opened my eyes, I found myself in my childhood bedroom. I must've passed out on the way back from the oak hill. My body felt heavy. Trying to push my shadows through time really wasn't the brightest idea in hindsight.
The shadows had felt so alive under my command, responding to my will as I attempted to weave them into the fabric of time. The thrill of that experiment had consumed me, but now I was left with the aftermath—a deep fatigue that settled in my bones and a cloud of worry hanging over me like a storm.
I shifted slightly in bed, feeling the cool sheets against my skin. The moonlight spilled softly into the room, illuminating my old model ships.
I noticed I was shirtless underneath the covers. Had Ma or Rose changed me? It was a bit embarrassing to think. I was already nineteen and still getting changed by my mom. If it was my wife, then it was still embarrassing in its own way.
