Anning brought Napoleon back home just as the carriage sent by Christina had arrived.
Vanni stood beside the carriage, and upon seeing Napoleon, her face spelled "I knew it."
Anning: "Do you have any objections to my friend?"
"None at all. I am merely a maid; how could I dare to object to my master's friend?"
Napoleon: "Your maid seems to have objections towards me."
Anning: "Oh, don't worry about it. She herself said she wouldn't dare object to the master's friend, come on, get in the carriage."
Vanni: "Miss Christina and her friends are attending mass at the church. Are we going to join them at the church, or shall we wait for the miss to return to the manor?"
After a moment of thought, Anning figured that, given France was predominantly a Catholic country, it wouldn't make sense to miss church on Christmas.
So he said: "Let's go to the church. It has been a while since I prayed there."
Napoleon, surprised, said: "You actually go to church?"
