The moment Tatum leaves, I let out a heavy breath and turn to Seraphina. She stands slightly inside the doorway, staring at me with eyes that seem so familiar, but yet aren't. Here long dark hair and soft mocha skin shine with a radiance that I can’t help but find captivating. How am I supposed to deny the possibility when deep down I know what she is saying is true?
“Follow me…” I reply after a moment, moving through the house towards the back door and down the path to my workshop. There’s a sense of safety and understanding that comes from being within the greenhouse. Which has made me wonder more than once if that’s the place I spent most of my time in my previous lives.
“I’m sorry if all this is a bit sudden,” she says softly when we step inside. “I didn’t mean to upset him.”
“He’ll be fine.”
“Are you sure?” I turn to face her, a look of worry passing over her gaze as I nod.
“Yeah, I’m sure. He’s… a bit touchy lately.”
