A firm grip on my arm stops me in mid thought. I turn to see Atlas’s dark, penetrating gaze that causes my breath to catch in my throat. He wasn’t supposed to see me here, let alone catch me right before I’m going to do something that I know I’ll regret later.
“What are you doing here?” he asks, his tone low and menacing. “You told me you were going to behave.”
As much as I want to keep to that promise, I can’t right now. Though I don’t think he will ever understand what I’m about to do.
“Atlas, I have to help her before it’s too late. You don’t understand.”
“No,” he snaps, pulling me closer to him. “You can’t go out there, Dora. If you make any kind of scene, it will be all over. They will strip you of everything and exile you from this realm. Is that what you want?”
