I knew about him once.
That much was clear, but I was lost now, and that wouldn't stand. I need to know about him so we're on even ground. Jushion knows too much about me, and that's given him the upper hand. He'll keep winning if I don't dissect him. Yet, I'm still hesitant, and I'm not sure why. This was my enemy. So, why was I cautious about learning too much about him?
Something about Jushion's raw presence made me wary, but I needed to push past it.
'He wouldn't hesitate,' I swallow back the doubt, moving toward the creature I loath. 'So, why am I afraid?'
'You'll see,' Barakael said cooly. 'It started at the beginning of all things. Long before the universe became what it was. Understand that, and you'll know why this thing follows us like it does.'
