Chapter 9 - 9. Didn't Your Mother Ever Tell You Not To Be Disrespectful!?

We can find Vesemir and Geralt under a tree with a drenched fire log a few feet away, a raine just ended a few minutes ago in White Orchard.

"This is where we'll part Geralt," Vesemir stood up and patted himself, "I'm going to Vizima, then Velen, and maybe Novigrad too if I squeeze the time I get before winter."

The old man went to caress his horse and cleaned the saddle. Geralt too stood up and nodded, he also patted himself while doing the same for roach. "I'm going to Toussaint... think it's a good idea?"

Vesemir raised a brow, "Ah... The duchy, known for the best wine, paradise city," he turned his head to Geralt, "Wherever it is, just follow where your heart takes you Geralt, you might be surprised where it'd lead you. Maybe you could get a house there as a quest reward." he laughed while the other just smirked.

"I'll be on my way then, see you at Kaer Morhen?" He went in front of Vesemir and shook his hand and hugged him.

"Sure, before winter."

Sounds of dodging could be heard as Ciri was trying to evade metal balls that were thrown towards her. This was the training Dante had for her, she initially wanted to sit and laze around in bed accompanying the lad in his rune making, but Dante wanted to polish her fundamentals in terms of evading. Don't get him wrong, he liked the thought of having nothing to worry and just laze around, talking about life. However, he knew it was soon winter and he was close to finishing his work. If he was going to leave this world, he wanted to impart as much knowledge and skills as he can to Ciri for her to survive out there because, for some reason, he felt that the ashen-haired would be placed in a dangerous situation in the future.

The last ball was thrown and flew very fast but Ciri managed to evade it quickly, making the lad smile and clap. The girl grin in delight. "Congrats! I saw how you were able to read where my hand was going to hit you and dodged it with no effort!"

"Hehe! Of course, who do you think I am?" Ciri grinned and played a little, but immediately went for Dante. "H-Hey how about we eat now? I'm starving..."

"Hmm..." The lad went in a thinking position, cupping his chin with his hand. "Think I'll forget about training you? Well, I'll let you off this time, tomorrow will be harder so don't lose focus, okay?"

Nodding her head rapidly, Ciri took his arms and hugged it, "So! What's on the menu? Fish? Rabbit? Meat? CHICKEN!?" she stated the possible food and got excited.

Dante could only sigh, "Since you impressed me today, we'll do chicken."

'Yes!' Ciri whispered but was heard by Dante to which he chuckled.

The two of them went past the gates and walked towards the forest, or if Ciri calls it, 'walking until a poor prey is found'. They were just wandering around, as Ciri was still hugging the lad's arm.

Speaking of the keep, by the time the witchers were out hunting for quests, Dante fixed the walls he destroyed from his spar with Geralt. With a flick of his finger, walls, doors, anything that required rebuilding, was fixed. He replaced the old tiles with white marble ones for every floor, and the walls were now lighter in shade, rid of the dust that covered the color for a very long time. He admitted that he went overboard, thinking back on their sparring session, but it was fun being strong. By the time Ciri woke up, she was surprised at how clean the keep looked and how it was no longer dark and gloomy in the interiors.

This was one of the powers granted by Zeno, energy manipulation. It literally meant what it was called, he could control any types of energy. Be it active or dead energy, as long as something had a history with the so-called energy, he could control it. However, despite its use, he tried to avoid it as much as possible. Energy manipulation is a very broad name for there are many types of energy, he needed to learn and master every sub-energies for him to use it properly. Fortunately, while he hasn't learn mastered every sub-energy that is in the entire multi-verse, moving, molding rocks, making diamonds, golds, weren't a problem. 'A business opportunity.'

They continued to wander around as a massive forktail suddenly appeared out of nowhere. Surprised, Ciri gripped Dante's arm harder, but the latter just stared at it with no difference.

"Hey Ciri, how about an upgrade, a birdie for lunch and dinner," He grinned as the girl only raised a brow.

"You can defeat that? Yeah right..."

Dante only smirked and poked her head, "Did you forget what I did to the walls last month? Geralt even flew awa- wait... are you scared?"

"W-Whatever do you mean?" Ciri glared at his eyes as he laughed making her pinch his belly, earning her a yelp in return.

"Why do you have to pinch my belly every time!? Why don't yo-" Dante was cut off as the forktail screamed, which pissed him off. "You know what? You little birdie, I was talking here! Didn't your mother ever tell you not to be disrespectful!?"

He disappeared from Ciri and the bird's sight and appeared beside the forktail, punching it in the face, which pushed it by many meters back, breaking a bunch of trees. "Good, free firewood!"

Dante flew up and stared at the soon-to-be meal, and flew towards it, forming his hand into a spear. The forktail tried to move out of the way but didn't manage so as the raven-haired was too fast and pierced its neck.

Ciri could only stare in shock, she was in disbelief, "Woah! You can fly!"

She forgot to comment about the show which made Dante smile wryly, 'I wanted to look cool, by showing off my strength sigh...'

"That was so fascinating! Can you bring me up? How does it feel to fly like a bird?" Ciri was being childish as she kept hammering with questions.

'Okay, not what I was expecting...' Dante thought as walked towards her and pinched her cheeks, "Soon, okay? For now, let's go inside the keep."

He then walked towards the massive bird and started dragging it, only for Ciri to grab his arm, "So... when will we fly, where will we go?"

Dante finally had enough, turned his head around, and kissed her. Locking her lips with his', amorously. Ciri was so red as his tongue was meeting with hers.

Just as Ciri's legs were about to give up, the lad stopped and pecked her lips.

"That's a secret."
