Chen Xu made noodles and had just brought them to the table in the hall when he saw Yang Jinxia push open the door and come out wearing a black dress.
"Looks good," Chen Xu complimented. She always managed to do things that seemed quite magical—like this dress, which appeared out of nowhere.
"Thank you."
Yang Jinxia sat down at the table, eyeing the bowl of noodles with curiosity, and asked, "Where did you get these noodles from?"
The noodles weren't on the landing craft's supply list. When he said earlier that he was going to make noodles, she thought he was just saying it out of spite, waiting to see him fail. But to her surprise, he had really brought out two bowls of cooked noodles.
Chen Xu said, "It's a secret."
"If you don't want to tell, then forget it." She picked up the chopsticks, took a taste, and said, "It tastes different."
He explained, "It's missing some spices."
