Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

*Ten Years Later *

Chloe's life had transformed. She was now a successful CEO, and her nine-year-old daughter, Sylvia, was the center of her world.

"Sylvia, come down! You'll be late!" Chloe called out.

"I'm coming, mom!" Sylvia replied, rushing down the stairs with her hair in a ponytail.

Chloe had burned the toast, but Sylvia reassured her, "Don't stress, mom. I love everything you make."

As they drove to school, Sylvia asked about her father. Chloe dodged the question, feeling a pang of guilt.

At Saint Mary Preparatory School, Chloe dropped off Sylvia and headed to her company.

After some time of driving Chloe arrived at her work place

In the parking lot, Chloe took the elevator to her office, where her PA, Angel, greeted her.

"Good morning, Miss Chloe. How was your night?"

Chloe exchanged pleasantries with Angel, inquiring about updates.

"No updates, ma'am," Angel replied. "But I must say, you're quite serious about surpassing the company next door."

Chloe smiled. "I want us to be better. We need to make money to grow."

Angel nodded in agreement.

Her PA, Ashley , entered. "Ma'am, it's time to go. You need to pick up Sylvia before it's too late."

Chloe packed her bag and headed to the elevator with Ashley.

"Good night, Miss Chloe ," Ashley said and Chloe bid her goodbye as the doors closed.

In the parking lot, Chloe's phone rang. She dug it out of her bag to find her best friend, Barbara, on the line.

"Hey, Bestie! How are you?" Chloe asked.

"I'm good. Want to hang out tonight? Maybe hit the club for a drink?" Barbara suggested.

Chloe hesitated. "I don't think so. I don't want to leave Sylvia alone."

Barbara offered, "Don't worry, I'll find someone to babysit."

But Chloe declined. "Maybe next time."

After ending the call, Chloe arrived at her daughter's school. Sylvia was waiting, looking a bit anxious.

"Mommy, you're five minutes late!" Sylvia exclaimed.

Chloe apologized, explaining she stopped for ice cream and chocolate chips. Sylvia's face lit up.

As they drove home, Chloe received another call from an unknown number. "Hello"...
