Staring at the multitude of pulsating Cellucas eggs, Ethan felt a wave of daunting responsibility wash over him. "There are so many," he repeated, his voice barely a whisper. "How do we destroy them all before they hatch?"
Ziak, his weapon still raised, assessed the situation. "Direct energy blasts would work, but it would take time, and we don't know how stable these eggs are. One wrong move could trigger a premature hatching."
Kiaz examined the tracker on Ethan's wrist. It was still glowing faintly. "Ethan, try focusing your neutrino energy through the tracker again, but this time, try to scan one of the eggs. See if it provides any information about their composition or vulnerabilities."
Ethan nodded, concentrating. He channeled his energy into the tracker and focused on one of the glowing red spheres. The holographic display flickered, and lines of complex alien script scrolled across its surface.
"It's… biological," Ethan reported, his brow furrowed in concentration. "Organic compounds… a dense, protective outer layer… and a highly reactive core."
Suddenly, a new function appeared on the tracker's display: "Bio-Resonance Disruption: Initiate targeted frequency to destabilize organic matter."
Kiaz's eyes widened. "The tracker! It can disrupt their biological structure! Ethan, try it! Select a frequency and target the eggs."
A series of fluctuating frequencies appeared on the tracker's display. Ethan hesitated, unsure which one to choose.
"Think about what you want to achieve," Ziak urged. "You want to neutralize them completely, prevent them from ever hatching."
Ethan focused his intent, visualizing the eggs becoming inert, their life force extinguished. As he did, one of the frequencies on the tracker pulsed with a brighter light. He instinctively selected it and focused on a cluster of eggs.
A beam of energy, different from the pure neutrino energy he had used before, emitted from the tracker. This beam was a soft, oscillating wave that washed over the eggs. The pulsating red light within them flickered and died. Their translucent surfaces became opaque and still.
"It's working!" Ethan exclaimed.
Together, they systematically targeted the remaining eggs. Ethan used the tracker's bio-resonance disruption function, while Ziak stood guard, ready to intercept any unexpected defenses or emerging threats. Kiaz monitored the tracker, ensuring the frequency remained effective.
The chamber, once filled with the ominous glow of the eggs, gradually became still and lifeless. One by one, the pulsating spheres went dark. The air no longer thrummed with a hidden energy.
Finally, the last egg turned inert. A collective sigh of relief escaped their lips.
"We did it," Kiaz murmured, his gaze sweeping across the silent chamber. "We destroyed them all."
Ziak nodded, his usual intensity softened with exhaustion. "Our father's mission… it's finally complete, at least on this world."
Ethan looked at the tracker on his wrist, a newfound understanding of its power and his connection to it dawning within him. The journey through the Grand Canyon dungeon had been perilous, but it had forged a stronger bond between them and brought them one crucial step closer to ensuring the universe's safety.
