The world had chewed him up and spit him out. But fate—or something far less merciful—had other plans.
Because one moment, he was slumped on his crusty futon with a half-empty bottle of whiskey and a bottle of lotion, and the next… he was flat on his back in the middle of a moonlit forest, blinking up at three pairs of glowing eyes. None of them human. All of them hungry.
"Is it awake?" The voice purred—low, lilting, and dripping with sultry amusement.
A face appeared above him. Skin the color of midnight velvet. Horns curling back like obsidian crowns. Full lips, gleaming with mischief. And those eyes—slit like a predator, gleaming gold.
"I call dibs," she whispered.
And then her tongue flicked out like a serpent's, licking the sweat from his neck.
The succubus wasn't alone. Beside her stood a buxom elf with silver tattoos that glowed with every heartbeat, and a wolf-eared woman wearing little more than straps and arrogance.
Jude sat up. Or tried to. The weight of the elf's curves pressed him down again, her voice like silk wrapping around steel.
"You are the Outworlder. The Chosen of the Mirror Gate."
She dragged a nail down his chest. "That makes you… ours."
His heartbeat was chaos. His pants were tighter than they'd ever been in his life. And somewhere deep in his half-soused brain, one single coherent thought rang out:
