Chapter 2 - The Stand Awakens

The glowing translucent screen hovered in front of John like a ghost from a dream, flickering softly with an unnatural light. His breath caught as more text scrolled into view.

[System Integration Complete.]

[User: John Joestar]

[Status: Stable | Vital Signs: Normalizing...]

[Initializing Stat Interface...]

A low, mechanical hum buzzed through his skull as the system began feeding him information, lines of data scrolling like code in a futuristic terminal.

John stared at the screen, stunned. "These are… my stats?" he whispered. "It's like a video game."

Then his eyes landed on one line.

Fighting Spirit: 1

"Fighting Spirit?" he asked aloud, confused.

The screen responded instantly.

[Fighting Spirit is the core energy fueling all Stand abilities. The stronger your resolve and willpower, the stronger your Stand.]

[All future abilities and evolutions will be based on this energy.]

He swallowed hard. The screen shifted again, almost impatient.

[Initiating Stand Assignment Protocol...]

[Rolling for Stand Compatibility based on user's soul blueprint...]

A glowing vortex of energy burst to life, right in front of him. Glyphs spun in a swirling cyclone, symbols ancient and alien flashing across the interface. John's heart beat faster. His body ached, his mind throbbed, but adrenaline surged through him.

"No way… this is it," he muttered. "I'm actually getting a Stand."

The roulette slowed.

DING.

[Congratulations.][You have been granted the Stand: Tusk]

[Type: Close-Range / Evolutionary][Grade: Evolving][Abilities Unlocked: Act 1 - Spin Bullet]

John blinked. "Tusk?" The name echoed through his head. "That's… Johnny's Stand. Johnny Joestar."

Before he could say more, the hospital lights flickered—just once. The air thickened, charged with unseen electricity.

And then, from beside his bed, it appeared.

A small figure. Roughly humanoid. Pink and mammalian, with fierce eyes and a golden star-like crest shining from its forehead. It shimmered like starlight—unreal, yet completely present.

John's mouth dropped slightly as he stared, breathless. "Oh my god…"

Tusk nodded at him.

 "Chumimi-in!" Tusk cried out.

"You're really… mine?" he asked softly. He felt the answer in his chest before the Stand could even move.

They were one and the same.

He held out a trembling hand toward it. "You're… my [Stand] now."

The grief twisted in his stomach again. His sister's laughter echoed faintly in his mind—then was gone. Burned away by the memory of the explosion.

A tear slid down his cheek.

"I couldn't protect her," he whispered. "I was weak. But never again."

His fingers clenched into fists, his jaw tightening. He looked up at the Stand beside him, and something fierce flared in his eyes.

[Welcome to your new path, John Joestar.]

[Stand Evolution: 0%]

[Quest System Unlocked.]

[Spin unlocked.]

"Alright, Tusk. Let's see what we can do together."

The screen blinked once more:

[Skill: Spin Bullet (Act 1) - Basic unlocked.]

[Training Mode Available – Start Now?]

[Y/N]

John didn't even hesitate. "Yes. Start it."

A subtle hum ticked in the air. Nothing around him changed — no weird simulation, no teleportation. Just his sterile hospital room: IV drip in the corner, heart monitor blinking quietly, his bloodstained hoodie on the chair by the window. Everything exactly how it had been.

To fire a Spin Bullet, focus your Fighting Spirit into a fingernail. Think of it as a drill, spinning through resistance. The greater the spin, the more stable and powerful the shot.

John looked at his hand, narrowing his eyes.

"Okay... let's try this."

He focused.

His emotions swirled—grief, rage, and the hollow silence left in the wake of his sister's death. He didn't try to suppress it. He embraced it.

The tip of his index fingernail glowed faintly, then began to rotate—slowly at first, then with a sharp, high-pitched whir.

His pupils narrowed. "It's really spinning… this is crazy."

He held his hand up, aiming it toward the blank wall across the room.

"…Here goes nothing."

BANG!

The nail launched like a bullet, spiraling across the room. It struck the wall with a sharp CRACK, punching a hole clean through the plaster, sending bits of white debris scattering onto the hospital bed.

John's mouth dropped open.

"I just—" He looked at the wall. "—I just blew a hole in the goddamn wall with my fingernail."

Tusk hovered beside him, arms crossed with a smug little nod.

John laughed. A wild, breathless, almost manic sound.

"This is insane. And awesome."

He looked down. His fingernail was already starting to regrow—slowly, but definitely growing back. A certain serial killer from the original JoJo universe would definitely be unhealthily interested in him if he was a woman.

[Spin Bullet - Basic]

Cooldown: 5 seconds per shot (scales with mastery)

Range: Short to Mid

Power: Scales with Fighting Spirit.

Note: User's fingernails regenerate over time. Higher Fighting Spirit = faster regen.

John flexed his fingers. "Okay, so I basically have revolver fingers now."

The heart monitor beeped steadily behind him. The room was still, save for the faint breeze coming in from the cracked window. But inside him? A storm was building.

He looked out the window at the distant skyline, his voice low.

"This power… it's just the beginning."

[Spin Mastery: 2%]

[Tusk : Act 1 Mastery: 4%]

"I need to find my parents now." John removed his IV drip and jumped out the bed.

The World awaited him.

Author's Note:

The Spin is a supernatural phenomenon wielded by multiple key characters in Steel Ball Run ( Part 7 of JoJo's Bizarre Adventures.)

It is a state of perfect or near-perfect rotation which produces a unique form of energy that can be applied for a multitude of uses. The Spin may be considered a counterpart to the Ripple power featured in the original JoJo universe ( Parts 1-6 ).
