Felix anxiously sat in the empty room all young elves are provided on the day of their awakening by the town of Entwood. He sat there tapping his finger on his knees as he watched the timer slowly tick down.55, 40, 30, 25, 15, 3, 2,1. The blue screen of the System appeared in his vision.

Before Felix had the chance to get excited about being one of the 10 percent to awaken two Talents, he suddenly felt a large headache as memories of another life rushed through his brian. Visions of cars made of metal instead of wood; monoliths of glass and steel dominating the horizons; scenes of a life he never lived and metal bricks that contain more knowledge than he could ever hope to comprehend.
But as his mind slowly came to terms with the new information, he heard a voice coming from within himself. A voice he that he almost mistook as his own, still disorientated from the after effects of his new Talent
'Where the fuck am I? Why can't I speak or move? What's going on?'
Felix "You must be a consequence of one of my new Flaws, be quiet for a moment Harry, I want to check my new awakened Status."
Harry 'Who are you to tell me to shut up you body snatching bastard and why can I understand the gibberish you're speaking?! How do you know my name?!'
Felix "I'm just going to ignore you for now. System, show me my new Talents and Flaws."
Harry 'Not even gonna bother explaining anything?Wanker!'

Harry 'If you would start with why I can understand your language, I'd appreciate that.'
Felix "I'm not 100 percent sure myself, but I would assume that as a clone that lives within my soul you have access to my subconscious mind which should let you speak and read elvish."
Harry 'Oh okay and your ehh, fine with having an artificial personality construct in your head? You seem pretty calm, no you feel pretty calm. I can feel what you feel, It's probably the only reason I've stopped freaking out. Also, did you just say elvish?'
Felix "One thing at a time please. I'm not completely okay with you inside my soul, but it's impossible to change one's Flaws so there is not much I can do about it. And yes I said elvish, that is the language all elves are taught."
Harry 'That reminds me, the blue screen in front of you, is that a System like from some of the fantasy novels I read?'
Felix nodded "Mmm, but there are a few differences. The biggest being that it is simply there to help you better understand your own power and assist in Skill creation. In theory you could look into your own soul and do everything the System does but that is not as practical as using the System. Speaking of Skill creation, we are running short on time. I need to speed things up before I'm kicked out of the awakening room. I will answer more of your questions later, for now I want to create my first Skill."
Felix spoke before his new roommate could interrupt him. "Status"

Felix "You are aware I can read your thoughts right? I have been doing that this whole time. It is how we are communicating."
Harry 'Right, sorry about that. Anyways moving on, are you gonna show me this Skill creation thing you're banging on about?'
Felix sighed "System open Skill creation"
A blue screen appeared in front of Felix, displaying a 3D model of himself. The boy's pale skin and vibrant green hair and eyes stood out among the transparent blue background. At the bottom of the screen was a small bar showing his current refined F-rank Soul Essence.
Harry 'I thought you were 20? You look barely 15, are you sick?'
Felix "Elves mature slower than humans and thank you for showing some concern. Mmm, now that I think about it I never did properly introduce myself did I? I'm Felix Rakki, an aspiring adventurer."
Harry 'And I`m Harry Cooke. Also known as the parasite that lives in your soul rent free. Hehe. Now that introductions are out of the way do you mind explaining this Skill creation to me? Maybe I can help.'
Felix "I will let the System explain because I could use a refresher myself. System, how do I create new Skills?"
A blue wall of text appeared in front of Felix.
To create a Skill you must first open the Skill Creation System through either your status screen or asking The System directly. Once the Skill Creation System (SCS) is open a 3D model of yourself will appear, simply request the Skill you desire and the 3D model will attempt to perform it. This action will fail if you do not possess enough Soul Flux to perform the Skill. You can decrease the Soul Flux cost by giving your Skills Flaws or investing more Soul Essence into the Skill. You need a minimum of 100 Refined F-rank Soul Essence to create a skill. You will be given a description of the Skill at the bottom of the SCS screen. Would you like The System to explain further?
Felix replied "No."
Harry 'Huh, so to my understanding literally anything is possible if you have enough Soul Essence, does that sum it up?
Felix "Yes it does, but as a newly Awakened I only have 100 Soul Essence and there are downsides to investing too much into a Skill so keep your ideas for my first Skill humble. Also I need something practical for a new adventurer. I was thinking of some sort of Skill that would increase my proficiency with weapons."
Harry 'Well if you're going to be an adventurer, you will have to go to dangerous places right? I feel like you need a Skill that could help you in any situation not just when your holding a weapon'
Felix "That is actually not a bad idea… Any suggestions?"
Harry 'What about strengthening your combat and survival instincts? That way it will both enhance your decision making in combat and help you sense danger.'
Felix "Mmm, I will ask the Skill Creator. I want a Skill that enhances my combat and survival instincts"
The blue screen in front of Felix changed, a red humanoid silhouette of equal height to the 3D model of Felix appeared from behind, ready to attack. The red model took a step towards the Felix model, reaching out to grab his neck. But just half a second before it succeeded, the Felix model rapidly turned, grabbed his opponent's wrist, pulled it towards himself and threw it over his shoulder and into the ground. The red silhouette shattered from the force and turned into tiny red shards that scattered into the air. The scene reversed back to the beginning and started again. Below the scene of the two fighting models was a simple description of the Skill asking for confirmation to be named and created.

Harry 'Damn, the mini you barely looked at that red guy and he demolished him!'
Felix "That was a very impressive display, but the Skill is too expensive to use. It needs some Flaws."
Harry 'Well, how hard is it to get more Soul Essence? Couldn't you just get more and upgrade the Skill?'
Felix "In theory yes, but the more Soul essence you invest in your Skills the more expensive it becomes to increase your personal Rank. Plus you can add Flaws to a skill during the creation process but not after so it is important to do it now."
Harry 'You're the expert here so I'll take your word for it. As for Flaws, since the Skill helps you sense danger I feel like the Skill should be on all the time.'
Felix "I'm surprised you are being so helpful considering the situation your in, trapped in a body that is not your own"
Harry 'I'm trying not to think about it too deeply. You got any ideas of your own for what kind of Flaws to add to the Skill?'
Felix nodded "Yes, my father used to say that there were few things more important than personal strength. I do not need to use the Skill on others."
Harry 'Sweet. Then what are you waiting for? Add them to the Skill.'
Felix spoke toward the System screen in front of him "I want to add two Flaws. The first should restrict the use of the Skill to only myself. The second should force the Skill to always be active."

The two fighting models disappeared and a simple blue message appeared in their place.

Felix felt a small pain within himself as he felt the System brand a small portion of the outer edge of his soul with his new Skill, glad he didn't have to manually brand himself because who knows how long and painful such a process would be. Before Felix could take a moment to meditate and look within himself to see his new Skill, he felt all his senses flare as his new Skill took effect. He instinctively lowered his posture to become a smaller target and rapidly looked around the room to analyse his surroundings, to check for any signs of danger. He felt all his muscles tense and then slightly relax like a bow fully drawn, always ready to release in a burst of power.
Felix "This is going to take some getting used to."
Harry 'So now the Skill stuff is out the way, what now?'
Felix took a breath, excited about the future "I become an adventurer."
