Chapter 5 - CHAPTER 5:WHO?

Kael opened the door, eyes cool, expression calm like nothing ever happened.

Professor Daryn stood there, holding a clipboard and wearing his usual half-confused, half-tired look. "Kael, just checking in. There was a minor… incident. Someone collapsed out by the east wing. You didn't see anything strange, did you?"

Kael shook his head. "No, sir. I've been in my room all evening."

"Hmm," Daryn muttered, eyes flicking behind Kael's shoulder for a second. He didn't sense anything. No pressure. No disturbance. Nothing off. That meant Kael's aura cloak was working perfectly.

"Alright, well… let me know if you hear anything. Strange days lately." The professor gave him a nod and turned away, already distracted by something else.

Kael quietly shut the door.

Down the hall, though, someone else had been watching.

Sitting on the railing of the stairwell, a girl with jet-black hair and a book in her lap had paused mid-sentence. She hadn't seen much—just a blurry figure in the far distance fall like he'd been slammed by some invisible weight. It didn't make sense. One second he was walking. The next, it was like gravity itself had chosen to hate him.

And when she looked around to see if anyone else had reacted, she noticed one thing—Kael was standing at his window, eyes sharp like he'd seen the whole thing before it even happened.

She didn't say anything. But her fingers stopped flipping the page.

Back in his room, Kael was still sitting on the bed, going over what happened in his head. The Target circle... no one saw it. Good. That meant only he could see it. It was clean. Quiet. Precise. It didn't scream for attention, and that was exactly how he liked it.

He held out his hand again, lazily drawing a small circle in the air with his fingertip. The same golden outline flickered to life, visible only to him. It hovered, glowing faintly, then faded after a second.

He smiled just a little.

"So that's how it works."

This ability—this Domain—wasn't flashy. It wasn't loud.

But it was terrifying.

Kael laid back on the bed, staring at the ceiling.

Somewhere out there, people were starting to notice.

And one of them was watching from just down the hall.
