Chapter 1 - chapter 1

The sunlight streamed gently through the curtains, illuminating Lizz's cozy room as she woke up early, the soft rays casting a warm glow across the wooden floor. It was a typical morning, the world still quiet and peaceful, but Lizz was already moving with the ease of routine.

She stretched, yawning a little, then pushed herself out of bed. Her orange hair cascaded down her back in waves, still slightly tousled from sleep. As she stood, she couldn't help but hum the familiar tune that always lifted her spirits. The melody came naturally, as though she'd been singing it all her life.

"In the morning when it's so bright,

I wake up and feel the light,

I brush my teeth, I wash my face,

I get fresh, I set the pace,

Make my breakfast, oh, so sweet,

Toast and juice, it's such a treat!

Hm hm hmmm, la la la la,

Starting fresh, it's a brand new day,

La la la la, hey hey hey!"

The simple rhythm of the song felt comforting, something she could rely on to start her day off right. It was a quirky little tune her mother had sung when Lizz was little, and somehow, it had stuck with her all these years.

She moved around her room, preparing for the day. First, she brushed her hair, then washed her face with cold water, letting the refreshing feeling wake her fully. Her small bathroom smelled like soap and lavender, and it always made her feel calm. After changing into her favorite soft sweater and jeans, she made her way downstairs to the kitchen. The smell of freshly brewed coffee greeted her, and she prepared a light breakfast—nothing fancy, just the basics: toast, a bit of butter, and some fruit.

As she was finishing up, putting her plate in the sink, her phone buzzed on the counter. She picked it up, seeing Flora's name flashing on the screen.

"Hey, I'm outside!! Let's go!" Flora's voice came through with her usual chipper tone, filled with excitement.

Lizz smiled and quickly grabbed her bag, slipping it over her shoulder. "Okie~ Just a minute, I'll be there in a minute!" she replied, her voice soft but warm. Flora always had a way of making mornings brighter, even though Lizz preferred the quiet of her own space.

She double-checked that she had everything—her notebook, phone, keys—and then made her way to the door. The cool morning air hit her face as she stepped outside, feeling the fresh breeze mix with the soft warmth of the rising sun.

Flora was already standing by the gate, her own long hair flowing behind her, her bright smile lighting up the street.

"Good morning!" Flora called, waving enthusiastically.

Lizz returned the wave, her heart lifting. "Good morning, Flora! Ready to head out?"

Flora grinned. "Always!"

They began walking side by side toward the college, the familiar path stretching ahead.

As they walked down the street, Flora turned to Lizz with a bright smile. "Hey, do you want to stop by the library later this afternoon to work on Professor Wilson's assignment?"

Lizz glanced at Flora, nodding with a thoughtful expression. "Yeah, that sounds good," she replied, her voice calm but eager to get things done.

Meanwhile, at home, Blizz had just returned from her morning walk, and the moment she stepped inside, she dashed around the room, frantically searching for her school things. "Blizz, why don't you ever keep your stuff in one place?" she muttered to herself in frustration as she tossed items aside. After a few more moments of chaos, she finally grabbed her bag and rushed out the door, knowing she was already running late.

At college, Blizz's friends were gathered together, chatting as usual.

"Hey girls, check out my outfit! How do I look?" May asked, twirling around with a big grin.

Leah looked her over with a teasing smirk. "Well, unfortunately, you and 'looking good' don't exactly go hand in hand," she quipped, laughing.

May rolled her eyes dramatically. "Ha ha ha, you guys are so mean!"

Amy, always the peacekeeper, chimed in with a smile. "Stop it, guys. You actually look fine, May. Don't worry."

But the conversation shifted when they realized Blizz hadn't shown up yet.

"Where's Blizzy? Looks like she's running late today," Amy noted with a concerned glance at the clock.

"Oh no, I hope she makes it in time," Leah added, her voice carrying a hint of worry. "She's usually on top of things."

Suddenly, a familiar voice called from down the hallway, and the group turned to see Lizz entering the room.

"Ugh, seeing her just ruined my mood," Clara muttered, her tone dripping with irritation.

Just as the school bell was about to ring, Blizz burst into the classroom, huffing and puffing. She flopped into her seat with a dramatic thud, tossing her bag onto the desk with a loud bam. "Oh, God," she groaned, letting out a heavy sigh of relief.

The day passed with one instructor after another entering the classroom. Soon enough, it was lunch break. Students gathered with their usual groups, some staying behind in the classroom, while others headed out. Blizz and her friends were outside as usual, eating snacks and walking by the college field.

Bam! Thud!!

"Ow!" Blizz yelped, landing hard on the ground from the sudden impact. She looked up, seeing Erik standing above her, a concerned look on his face as he offered her a hand.

"I'm so sorry!" he said quickly. "This idiot of a friend of mine pushed me, and I ended up falling into you. I didn't mean to hurt you. Are you okay? Can you stand?"

Blizz rolled her eyes and grabbed his hand, pulling herself up. "Ugh! Seriously, are those eyes of yours on your forehead or are they buttons?" she muttered, irritated.

Erik made a face that resembled a concerned puppy. "I... I'm so sorry," he stammered, clearly feeling guilty.

Leah's eyes caught something on Blizz's hand, and her expression shifted to concern. "Ahhh!" she cried out. "Blizzy, your hand!"

Blizz glanced down, noticing the small scratch on her palm that was bleeding a bit.

"Oh no!" Leah exclaimed. "We need to take you to the nurse's office!"

Without missing a beat, Erik followed Blizz and her friends as they hurried toward the nurse's room, his face filled with guilt.

"I... I didn't mean to—" Erik began, but stopped mid-sentence, his voice trailing off. He was feeling so bad about what had happened.

Amy, ever the dramatic one, sobbed loudly. "S-s-sob, sob, wahhh! Our poor Blizzy hurt her ha... hand! Wah ha wahhh!"

Blizz couldn't help but laugh lightly, trying to ease the tension. "It's just a little scratch, guys. It'll heal soon, and honestly, this kind of thing happens all the time! Relax Erik these girls are just overreacting," she added with a playful roll of her eyes. "Besides, I'm a sports person, and I know you are too, Erik. Injuries like this? Totally minor."
