Hong Cuiye and Yuan Qiuyi were graduate students. After graduating from university, they had been staying at home without jobs, living off their parents' money. After graduation, they got married and had a child.

Kong Aijin and Hong Cuiye met in China. They attended the same university. Cuiye was also Aijin's good friend. Later, both of them settled in Malaysia.

As usual, Chen Kairui was patrolling nearby when he spotted a speeding car. He immediately gave chase and pulled the car over.
After handling the matter, it was just time to get off work. He returned to the police station to store his gear, then headed home. As soon as he opened the door, his daughter ran over happily and hugged his leg tightly, looking up and calling out:
"Daddy's home!"
He smiled and ruffled her hair, then looked toward the dining table—his wife was bringing out the last dish. Steam curled in the air as she turned and smiled warmly at him:
"Just waiting for you."
And just like that, they had a happy and fulfilling day.

Hong Cuiye and Yuan Qiuyi developed a drug that could make humans stronger. They didn't dare to try it themselves, so they used their daughter as a test subject. Hong Cuiye's hand trembled slightly as the needle touched the delicate skin of his daughter's arm. He took a deep breath and slowly pressed the plunger. His daughter frowned and softly gasped:
"Daddy, it hurts..."
A few seconds later, her expression suddenly relaxed. She swung her arm and said:
"Huh? It doesn't hurt anymore."
Then Cuiye tried to wrestle with his daughter and found he was no match for her. Their drug had worked. He immediately shared the good news with his good friend Kong Aijin.
Aijin originally planned to visit, but since it was already late, he decided to go first thing the next morning. Then Cuiye and Qiuyi injected the drug into themselves as well.

Early in the morning, Cuiye took his daughter to school and reminded her:
"You're very strong now. Try not to get into any physical conflicts, okay?"
His daughter replied, "Got it," and got out of the car.
Back home, when Hong Cuiye walked into the living room, the scene froze his blood—Yuan Qiuyi had collapsed on the floor, her limbs convulsing as if pulled by invisible strings. Her eyes rolled back, and hoarse, inhuman gurgles escaped her throat.
Cuiye rushed over in panic. Just then, Aijin called:
"I'm heading to your place now."
Cuiye replied, "Come quickly, Qiuyi suddenly collapsed and is convulsing."
Halfway through the sentence, the line went dead. Aijin frantically shouted from the other end, "Hello? Hello, are you there? Hello!"
On his way over, Aijin called emergency services and gave them Cuiye's address. When Kong Aijin arrived, the piercing sound of sirens split the sky. Yellow police tape fluttered wildly in the wind. He frantically pushed past the police and rushed inside, only to see Hong Cuiye's twisted corpse—his skin had turned an unnatural grayish-blue, with dried blood at the corners of his mouth. Kong Aijin fell to his knees, letting out a heart-wrenching scream.
Elsewhere, at school, Cuiye's daughter also began to show symptoms...
In the interrogation room, Aijin was questioned by Chen Kairui. Aijin told him everything he knew.
In the morgue, the medical examiner was examining Cuiye's body.
Suddenly, Cuiye's hand twitched, and right before the examiner's eyes, he stood up with a grotesque, twisted posture and lunged at the examiner.
Meanwhile, Qiuyi also stood up in a similarly twisted way. Another medical examiner who had just entered was tackled by the reanimated Qiuyi.
On the other side, Chen Kairui had just sent Aijin home. His house was behind a school. As Aijin opened the door and turned on the TV, he was shocked to see that all the news channels were reporting incidents of people biting others. He rushed outside and saw chaos unfolding at the school.
Just as he was about to help, he noticed a horde of zombies charging toward him. He immediately turned and ran back into his house.
Back on the road, Chen Kairui had just left Aijin's place when he discovered the city was already in complete chaos. Without thinking, he sped back home.
At the airport, people panicked after seeing the news. A group of rich people bought a private jet and ordered the pilot to take off immediately. The pilot, having no choice, complied. On the plane, one piece of luggage was visibly moving...
Cut to Kairui arriving home, where he saw his wife and daughter packing their things. Seeing this, he said:
"Stop packing, just get in the car."
Thus, Chen Kairui took them to a safe zone. Upon arrival, Kairui immediately ordered his subordinates to arrange a helicopter to take his wife and daughter to another safe zone. Soon, the exclusive helicopter arrived. His wife and daughter boarded, but Kairui did not. He said to them:
"I still have a mission. You go to a safe place first. Once I finish my task, I'll come find you. I love you."
As he finished speaking, the helicopter took off. Suddenly, Kairui heard the roar of an engine. He turned to see an out-of-control plane slowly descending toward them.
Kairui was thrown to the ground by the shockwave of the explosion. He struggled to his feet and looked back—the helicopter was a ball of fire, debris falling like meteors. The scorching heat burned his face, but he no longer felt it. His world in that moment was filled only with the twisted wreckage in the flames and the two screams forever lost in the blaze. He stood frozen as a horde of zombies charged at him from behind, knocking him to the ground...
Back at Aijin's, he saw on the news that crossing a certain bridge would lead to safety. Just as he was about to start the car, a scream pierced the air from the direction of the school.
Without hesitation, Aijin grabbed a shovel and rushed over, saving several students. He gave them food, and after being thanked, they asked for his name.
Aijin replied, "My surname is Kong, just call me Mr. Kong."
He let the group rest for a while before setting out toward the bridge. On the way, a car began following them.
Suddenly, it rammed into the group, sending one student flying. Aijin was also injured, stabbed in the abdomen by glass shards, and lost consciousness as the car crashed into a streetlamp.
The remaining two students tried to pull Aijin out, but he told them to go. Before leaving, the two said:
"Thank you."
Kong Aijin looked at the stumbling figures of the two students running away. A tired smile tugged at his lips. His abdominal wound continued to ooze warmth, and his vision blurred. He shakily pulled out a lighter and struck it one last time.
"At least... it meant something."
As the flame ignited the gasoline, his figure was engulfed in a burst of blazing orange-red.
