In a grand lavish bedroom, that looked too extravagant to be real, sunlight poured in through tall arched windows, draped with sheer, silvery curtains that shimmered in the breeze. The walls were painted soft ivory, with ornate gold patterns trailing like vines across the ceiling. Antique furniture lined the room, their polished surfaces gleaming, and a large mirror stood tall in the corner, reflecting the figures gathered around a grand canopy bed.
Among them were two servants and a doctor checking on the patient-a boy around ten years old with a frail frame, delicate pale skin, and soft light-blue hair that almost appeared white. His eyes were a clear, piercing blue, and loose bandages wrapped around his forehead and right hand.
That boy... was me.
Azure Windward. That's my new name.
Somehow, I had reincarnated into the world of the novel Petals of Fate. And how did I know this was that exact novel world? Because Azure Windward is a name I vaguely recalled-he was one of the side villians who appeared shortly after the heroine encountered the twin male leads, Glenn and Rowan Windward.
The novel featured five male leads in total. Along the way, the heroine faced various minor villians she had to overcome-and among them, Azure was the most unpleasent.
He was the younger step-brother of the twins, a spoiled, cruel boy who tormented them from the moment they joined his family. He wasn't strong either-he had the weakest magical abilities among the cast. And unsurprisingly, he died quite early in the story. But until that moment, he stirred up quite a trouble for both the heroine and his brothers.
And now... I was that very same character.
Who would've thought those reincarnation fantasy novels my sister used to obsess over would become my reality? But here I am. And now that I am here, I have no choice but to figure out how to survive.
(I am sure she would have gone crazy if she found out about it.)
"Master is stable for now." The doctor said as he packed up. "His injuries have mostly healed. The bandages can be removed soon."
"It seems to be a temporary case of amnesia." He added.
The two servants sighed in relief.
Now that I think about it... this scene was in Petals of Fate. When Azure was ten, he fell down the stairs and had a bad accident. It was after that time he became more unruly and volatile. So this must be it. I must have reincarnated after that incident.
After the doctors left, I turned to the servants-a middle aged woman and a young butler. They looked uneasy under my gaze. Though they were genuinely concerned, I could make out they were walking on eggshells.
Azure must've really been awful to them.
"I think I remember who I am" I said slowly, "and some details... but nothing about my past."
"Don't worry, young master" the butler said gently. "I am sure it'll come back to you with time."
Just then, a knock came at thhe door. The woman went to open it.
Two boys, nearly identical, entered the room.
"Um sir... they are-"
"I knowthem" I interrupted. "They are my brothers."
The butler and maid bowed and quietly excused themselves.
The two boys approached my bedside. One of them, the taller one with glasses, spoke first.
"We heard our younger brother has lost his memory."
"Yes," I said, "I've lost most of my memories... but not enough to forget how I fell off the stairs, brother Glenn."
They both fell silent.
I smiled faintly. "How did it feel, pushing me down? Did you both enjoy my fall?"
