Chapter 2 - 02. Wizards and Sorcerers

Like a child full of curiosity, the first thing I did when I found out I was a wizard was to pepper the MACUSA agent with questions and then I went to grab a broom to see if I could fly on it. The ministry agent, whose name was Tyler Russell, started laughing so hard at my actions that if we had been alone, I bet he would have dropped to the floor from laughing.

Tyler wasn't very old, in fact he was quite young, he was 24 years old, 184 cm, golden blond hair, dark white skin, sky blue eyes and a young voice, neither too deep nor too high pitched. After he calmed down, he told me that I couldn't just fly on any broom, they had to be brooms made specifically for flying. After confirming the arrangements with the orphanage director, we went out to get all the things I would need for my first year at Ilvermorny.

The first thing he told me when we were alone and that surprised me a lot was that he asked me if I had come to see the Harry Potter movies and the subsequent ones of fantastic animals, I told him yes, and that I was a big fan of them and that's why I had tried to fly on the broom, Tyler revealed to me that almost everything in the Harry Potter movies and books was true, at least as far as the world depicted, but the characters and the story were actually fictional.

-So does Hogwarts exist? - I asked

- Yes, and as they say in the movies, it is hidden by enchantments and no one knows its location, only that it's in the northern highlands of Scotland, as well as other schools of magic around the world, and others that have not been mentioned - Tyler answered me.

- So quidditch, dragons, magical beasts and everything is real? - I asked again but more animated.

- Not everything, but yes, it's real - He answers with a smile.

- Does that mean I can have my own wand? - I ask with enthusiasm.

- That... is not... - he says but I don't hear him.

-I've done the test of the houses of the author's website and I almost always stay in Hufflepuff, it doesn't affect me because I know that there are very good Hufflepuff wizards, but if it's real, great, and then my wand, I would like it to be made of oak with a phoenix core, if there are phoenixes, right? You just told me that a moment ago! - I interrupted him

Tyler stops and by inertia so do I, I see that he is looking for a place to rest, although we haven't been walking for long, finally he sees a cafeteria, we enter the place, he asks for a table for the two of us and then he snaps his fingers and says a word that I can't understand and then, I stop hearing noise, although there weren't many people in the cafeteria.

- Listen Daniel, as I was mentioning before, almost everything about the movies I told you was true, but not everything. As you may have noticed, I don't have a wand.

When he tells me that, I notice that it's true, I didn't see any wand and in fact I didn't hear him say any spell.

- That's because - he keeps telling me - in the magic world there are two types, wizards and sorcerers. -

- I don't understand - I tell him - aren't they the same? - I ask

- In essence yes - he tells me - but no, they are not the same. Sorcerers mainly use a catalyst to be able to control their magic, that is what we commonly call wands, although in ancient times they used sticks, little by little it has been adjusted to the wands that are currently used. In order to manifest their magic, wizards use incantations or spells to modify or alter the environment they desire. The ones you saw in the movies are sorcerers, this because the creator of the story, Madam R. is a sorceress in the wizarding community.

-Madam R.? - I ask curiously.

- Yes, Madam Rowling, she initially had a lot of trouble with the Ministry of Magic when she brought out her book, however since it was a book, it was deemed not to violate the International Statute of Magical Secrecy and she was able to continue publishing her books.

I couldn't believe everything I was hearing. - And then the wizards, what about them? - I asked.

- Wizards can use magic without any catalyst, generally they are of the elemental type, however with enough practice we can use other types of spells, as you will notice by the expression you have, I fall into this category. When we sat at this table, I used my magic with my fingers and pronounced the word "silence" to indicate that I wanted to silence our surroundings, so we do not hear what they say, but they can not hear us either. - Ryan says.

- Does that mean there are special schools for wizards and others for sorcerers? - I ask a little confused.

- No - He tells me. - The schools of magic and wizardry have curriculums for both wizards and warlocks since there are disciplines that they share in common, such as herbology, potions, astrology, and several others that you will learn in school. Also, sometimes wizards use boosters to perform more powerful magic, an example is the magic circles.

After leaving the cafeteria, we started looking for my school supplies, books, robes, cauldrons, various things. My first impression was when we entered a normal bank, Ryan talked to the manager and they took us up to the fifth floor of the building where there was a sign that said "Welcome to Gringotts Arizona Branch" where they created a special account for me and were attended by goblins, just like in the movies, but it was different in that instead of traveling through subway tunnels, then Ryan told me that when a wizard or sorcerer has a vault, at the moment of forming a family, the name changes to that of the family, and once you take the money, it is automatically registered in the account book to indicate how much is there, how much is taken out and to avoid theft.

Once we left the bank, I asked Ryan why the wizarding bank looked like a normal one, and he told me that once upon a time the bank was still hidden, but since the Harry Potter movies were so famous, now all the stores were camouflaged as normal muggle stores and that only on the upper floors or back of the buildings was the real wizarding store, and they even had fireplaces connected to the Flu network for those who traveled within the wizarding world but for me, that day we would have to go from store to store to know its non-magical location since I would have to go later with a member of the orphanage.

Once the shopping was done, we returned to the orphanage where Ryan told the director that I was to report to the bus station in Albany, New York at 11:00 am to catch the transport to Ilvermorny.

The next few days felt like an eternity until the appointed date arrived, my favorite teacher and the one who always took care of me, Ms. Andrews accompanied me all the way from Arizona to New York from the day before. Andrews had accompanied me all the way from Arizona to New York the day before. Now I was only a few hours away from knowing which house I was going to be in and what I was: a wizard or a sorcerer.
