Chapter 10 - Chapter 0010 – Strange Treasure

Just like the wordless heavenly book described.

Perhaps the heavens and earth could no longer bear the endless tide of desire. The burden had reached its limit. At last, the accumulated pressure burst forth—monsters born of desire descended upon the world, bringing about apocalyptic horror. Simultaneously, wondrous treasures, conceived in the fantasies and willpower of countless minds, began to fall across the land.

Ultimately, it was a disaster of humanity's own making.

Greed ran rampant, and desire flooded every corner of the world. Behind the dazzling prosperity of society lay endless shadows of sin and darkness. In the end, these gave birth to the cataclysm. This time, it seemed the damage had become irreversible.

"I didn't expect it to be like this,"Yi Tianxing couldn't help but let out a bitter chuckle.

This disaster was truly the bitter fruit humanity had sown.

"Moreover, according to what the heavenly book records," Chen Xuerou added, "the laws of Heaven have already changed. Killing monsters born of desire will yield Willpower Beads. These monsters are composed entirely of willpower—though their origins lie in twisted or dark desires, once they're slain, they undergo purification. All their obsessions and malice are dispersed, leaving only the purest essence of willpower behind."

"There are also monsters born from fantasy," she continued. "Upon death, they might leave behind rare materials—or even unique cultivation techniques and secret arts. These things once only existed in dreams and imagination."

This was fantasy invading reality. Illusion overlapping with the real world. Even the Dao of Heaven had shifted. In a way, it was also an opportunity for humanity to evolve.

"Let's hope we can survive this trial."

Yi Tianxing took a deep breath, his steps not slowing in the slightest. He kept charging forward, cutting down monsters one after another. These monsters weren't especially powerful—still low-level threats. Dangerous to ordinary people, yes—but for him, still manageable.

His hands didn't rest. Around him, more and more monster corpses fell. Some were even dragged off and devoured by other beasts on the spot.

These creatures were real. They didn't vanish upon death. Their corpses were solid flesh and blood.

It was hard to believe they had been born of fantasy.

"When we're safe, let me have a look at that wordless heavenly book," Yi Tianxing said to Chen Xuerou.

"Alright." Chen Xuerou agreed without hesitation. The heavenly book only contained knowledge—it wasn't a technique or a magical artifact. It held little personal value to her. She wouldn't mind giving it to Yi Tianxing entirely.

"Where are we headed?" she asked.

"Just ahead. I saw a treasure fall from the sky earlier—it landed not far from here. That's why I came out: to retrieve it," Yi Tianxing explained without concealment. If she was following him, she'd find out sooner or later anyway.

"There are treasures falling here too?" Chen Xuerou's eyes lit up. From what was written in the heavenly book, these fallen treasures were no ordinary objects—they would be incredibly valuable. Some might even have mysterious, miraculous powers. Every one of them was priceless. Obtaining one could mean survival in this apocalyptic world.

As they pressed forward, monster after monster was slaughtered.

Yi Tianxing didn't stop at all. His entire body was bathed in blood, with several wounds added to his frame—none fatal, but a testament to the constant combat.

"It's just ahead."

Soon, Yi Tianxing arrived at a public plaza. Right in the center, a giant green wolf stood guard over a glowing orb of light. All around lay the corpses of various monsters. Blood stained the wolf's claws—clearly its doing. It had claimed the orb as its own.

"What a huge wolf..."Chen Xuerou's face turned pale, her body trembling slightly.

The green wolf was as tall as a grown man. Its fur bristled with energy. Fangs gleamed in its mouth, and its emerald eyes swept over its surroundings with an icy glare. Just meeting its gaze made one's heart freeze. Compared to the goblins and slimes they had fought earlier, this beast was on another level entirely.

"That orb must be the treasure."

Yi Tianxing drew a deep breath. Because of the wolf's presence, no other monsters dared approach. The area had become eerily quiet.

"Master Yi, are you going to kill it?" Chen Xuerou asked in surprise.

"If I don't, we can't take the treasure."Determination hardened Yi Tianxing's features.

Though he didn't know what the glowing orb contained, the sheer number of monsters that had died around it proved its value. It had clearly sparked a fierce contest. That alone said enough.

There was no way he could give it up—he'd come here specifically to find treasures like this.

Still, Yi Tianxing didn't rush recklessly into battle. He understood—know yourself and your enemy, and you will never be defeated. Before fighting the wolf, he needed to observe its abilities first.

"Waaah!!"

Just then, a group of several dozen green-skinned goblins spotted the orb as well. Their eyes lit up with a green glow, and with wild howls, they charged toward the plaza, brandishing wooden clubs. It looked like they fully intended to bash the giant wolf into pulp to seize the treasure.

The goblins rushed in, shrieking wildly.

Awoooo!!

The green wolf's eyes flashed with brutality. With a furious howl, it lunged forward before the goblins could even reach it. Its speed was terrifying. A faint green wind surrounded its body, making it light as a feather. Its movements left behind blurred afterimages in the air.

Smash!

With one paw swipe, a goblin was torn open, a massive gash splitting its chest. Its heart was shattered. It was dead on the spot. The wolf's jaws snapped forward, biting another goblin's throat in a spray of green blood. Then with a flick of its tail—like a steel whip—it crushed a third goblin's skull into pulp.

The wolf's strength was overwhelming.

Boom!

But there were so many goblins. Dozens surrounded the wolf, slamming wooden clubs down in a frenzy. One even hit the wolf right at its waist, making it stagger—almost collapsing. A wolf's waist was its weak point—just like a snake's seventh inch.

Awooo!!

The wolf let out a furious roar. Its eyes glowed red with bloodlust. Then its body erupted in green light. Fur bristled. With a snap of its jaws, it unleashed a wind blade that shot forward at lightning speed.

The blade was razor-sharp. It sliced through goblins like paper, cutting five or six in a row before dissipating. The destructive force it carried was astonishing.

Even so, the goblins seemed utterly bewitched by the treasure. Not even the wolf's slaughter could break their will. They kept charging—one after another—refusing to retreat. The force of dozens of goblins couldn't be ignored.

"Perfect chance!"

Yi Tianxing's eyes lit up.

The two groups of monsters were locked in bloody combat. No matter who won, they would be weakened. More importantly, while they were distracted, the orb had no guardian. It was the perfect time to strike.

If he could sneak in unnoticed, he might be able to grab the treasure without fighting at all.

"You stay here. There's a security booth over there. Hide inside and lock the door. No matter who knocks, don't open it. I'll go get the treasure. Maybe I won't have to fight," Yi Tianxing instructed, pointing to a small booth nearby. There were no monsters around it. It could serve as a temporary safe spot.

"Okay. Big Brother Yi, be careful. If it's too dangerous, just give up. Staying alive is more important," Chen Xuerou said, nodding firmly. She was someone capable of making decisions—she'd proven that by jumping from the building earlier. After speaking, she quickly moved toward the booth, making sure to stay hidden along the way.

"She's cautious, decisive, and sensible. If she survives, she'll definitely thrive in this new world."Yi Tianxing nodded inwardly. She had the qualities needed to endure the apocalypse—and now, even a bit of luck.

Without hesitation, Yi Tianxing used the surrounding vegetation to conceal his movement as he crept toward the glowing orb.

100 meters!80 meters!!50 meters!!

In the blink of an eye, only about 20 to 30 meters remained. Just a burst of speed now would close the gap instantly.

"It's time."

He made his move. As the wolf and goblins continued their battle, Yi Tianxing sprang forward. With a burst of power, he shot toward the orb like a bolt of lightning.

In less than two seconds, he reached it.

Without hesitation, he reached out and grabbed the orb—then stuffed it directly into his backpack without so much as a glance.

The whole operation was smooth and lightning-fast.

In a flash, the treasure was his.

Awoooo!!!

But at that very moment, a furious howl rang in his ears.

The green wolf had just finished killing the last goblin—and when it turned, it saw the entire scene:Yi Tianxing stealing its treasure.
